Guniea pig mites

2 of our 3 girl pigs (approx 12wks old) are displaying signs of mite. I have treated all 3 with stuff from pet shop (liquid capsule that you squeeze onto back of the neck). This was 2 days ago but since then they look worse and are behaving as if they are quite agitated at times.

Is there anything else I can try before taking them to the vet?

I think you need to give those drops time to absorb into the skin and bloodstream (which is one reason you don't wash them after using, you need to give about 7 days between drops and shampoo)

Was it Ivermectin drops you used? (Most commonly used treatment for mites)

Our cat used to absolutly go ballistic after she has her drops (Cat Frontline IIRC) our guineas have Xeno 450 but don't show any side effects apart from outrage.

In the meantime, change all their beddung and deep clean their accomodation (there are sprays like Bephear or you can steam clean)

Hi yes it was ivermectin. They are still scratching now after 4 days, I don't know if it should have worked by now?...
