Easier way to unpack bedding and hay?!

In prep for the buns arriving today Grin, I sorted out the hutch last night - it's so difficult to get bedding/hay out of those compressed packs! If any neighbours seen me they must have had a right giggle at me struggling! Is there a proper way of doing this?!

When it's compressed, it explodes all over the floor if you open it Grin

I put mine into a big plastic bag (my DBro gave me some heavy duty clear plastic bags) slit round the wrapping with a Stanley knife then peel off the wrapping. Hopefully it all stays in (that's the theory )
A Jumbo Quick Clip (Lakeland Limited) to seal it.

I keep a plastic dustinbin (new with a lockable lid) in the garage for their bedding.
Last year I bought 3 bales of Ecobale (horsebedding) it was like The Magic Porridge Pot, just kept pouring out Grin

Welcome to your new home Buns Smile

Sorry, can't help - it either doesn't come out at all or explodes everywhere. After several years of bunny/pig keeping I've not worked it out. I open mine holding the bag inside the pigs cage so any excess falls in there for them to munch, but it's still very hard to prise the hay out of a new bag. The pigs find this very amusingWink

Oh and welcome to the new bunsThanks. We'll need photos - it's compulsory on this forum and I like to show my naughty bun photos of well behaved rabbits for inspirationConfused
