Tips for Guinea Pigs

We've got three lovely, rescued guinea pigs arriving at the weekend. They're sisters and are 6 months old.

We have a big hutch and a run. Any tips for making their lives wonderful?

I keep reading conflicting information about bedding for instance, what should I put in the hutch?

What do your gps like to eat? Any firm favourites?

They will be nervy but if you just catch them , ignore the protest and treat them, they'll be lead by their bellies (they are greedy little toads Grin )

Actually I don't give my pigs treats when we cuddle them, we have a juggling match with 3 between 2 of us without them grabbing food out of each others faces.

GP6 (our neutered boar) has turned his attention to GP4 (the dominant sow).
My GP5 was cuddling me , I sometimes put her in a towel or fleece if she's being lairy.

DD and I put a thick blanket on the floor, made a barrier with legs, furniture and random cushions and just let them pootle , climbling up onto our laps and off when they want a pee.

I can't remember how long it took GP5 to settle (she's always been the wild card)
Catching them- I leave to DD. The run is too small for me , DD is a gymnast,so more bendy Smile.
The last pig (not always the same pig) gets a bit Whheeeek when they find out they're alone.
Except our boar today. I had to prod him ease him forward with a broom handle. Daft git.

Oops I've just realised that last sentence looks baddd.

I slide the handle through the bars to stop him going round the back of the wooden box (he hasn;t got the sense to jump over it Grin ), I don't beat him about the Head Neck and Shoulders with it.
