Talk to me about budgies!

We have just became the owners of 2 beautiful budgies. They are settling in well and this morning had a beautiful sing song together! Is there any important things I need to know to keep them happy and healthy? TIA

I know zilch about budgies but they sound lovely. I like the idea of a morning singsong!

I'd suggest you get a book on budgies to read and find out how to meet their needs. Plenty of good books available.

Basic needs - preferably large aviary or cage enough to allow free flight or otherwise considerable time out of cage to allow free flight.

Aviary must be secure, sheltered, with indoor area heated in winter. Rodent proof.

Whether cage or aviary you need natural perching (non toxic tree branches), water for bathing and drinking, appropriate substrate that's easy to clean, appropriate diet and supplements if not in diet. Uv lamp if kept indoors.

Lovely birds, not hard to keep well but you need to read up to make sure you know how to keep them happy and healthy.

Make sure you know common diseases and how to prevent them.
