Bunny 1 died, will bunny 2 be ok on her own?

Any advice would be lovely.

We had two bunnies. Had one first, then a year or so later got a second. Over the years they became best friends and would really panic if one was removed from cage without the other.

However bunny 1 died yesterday, so bunny 2 is on her own.
Will she be ok on her own or will she become lonely or even die of a broken heart?(I'm sure this can happen?)

I can't take on another rabbit, so would have to rehome her with someone with another rabbit if that's the case.

Just want to do what's best for her, but without taking on the commitment of another rabbit.

She will need a friend. In Switzerland I believe it's against the law to keep a them alone.

There are lots in rescue shelter which have rabbits. Will already be neutered etc too then.

You can take on an older rabbit from a rescue center.

I know nothing about rabbits but I would think they need company.

I'm reluctant to get another bunny because I'm just going to continue in the cycle forever. I'll get another, then in however long, one will pass away, then I'll get another so the other isn't lonely, and so on. I don't want to keep bunnies forever but wanted these two for their life spans. I'm sort of stuck really. I don't want to give her up, but really don't want to be stuck in a cycle long term.

You could see if the shelter can find a home for her and keep her until they do or maybe a petting zoo will take her

Oh we have the same situation, ours had a mum and a sister and both were taken a couple of years ago - we got two boys to try and put with her, but though they initially cuddled, the boys started doing what boy rabbits do best, and she got terribly upset. She is tiny and they are huge. so we now have a male pair and a single female.

I tried her with a different, very young boy but again, she was upset by him. So she lives on her own, looking down into the run where the boys are, but not able to join in.

I have tried various rescues but nobody called back, no one had a place for her, and I don't know how to help her.

Plus watch out for winter as it will be a lot colder on her own too.

How old is she? Could she come inside where she'd have some human company? It's not the same as rabbit company but is better than being alone.

Haven't replied as I wasn't sure if you were asking me or the OP - didn't want to hijack - but as it's gone quiet, I would love to bring her in but am worried she would get lost or hurt. The house is large-ish and wandering with a lot of stairs and cables lying about, which I know buns like to eat, and the toddler likes to throw things at people and doubtless would subject her to the same.

One day if she is still with us and we can organise a safe room, then I will do this as I want her to be near to us and she is very well behaved.

I'm in your situation. We lost bunny boy a week ago but we still have bunny girl. I'm spending as much time as I can with bunny girl so she doesn't get too lonely. We are picking a bunny boy from a rescue next week end. I didn't want to either because we were so devastated to lose bunny boy but I know bunny girl needs a new friend so I'm getting the new rabbit for her. Plus there are so many rabbits who need a forever home so I feel I need to help !
