Do rabbits need vaccines etc?

As mine are living in my garden, and won't have contact with other rabbits. Do they need vaccinating against myxamotitis (sp?) or worming? They are only going to eat rabbit food, washed veg and dried grass.

yes they do, they need 2 given a couple of weeks apart as babies them a yearly booster. they will need to be protected an
against myxomatosis as it is transferrred by insects not other rabbits Smile

I would also protect against flystrike during the summer months, and treat them for worms

Worming - yes you don't know what else has been on the grass

There;s also VHD (Viral Haemorragic Disease) immunisations to consider.

Definitely need vaccinations. My boy is a housebun (rarely goes outside) and he has his injections every year.

They definitely need vaccinations. Myxi is spread by biting insects, so they don't need to be in direct contact with other rabbits to get it and VHD is important too. Most vets do the combined vaccine now.

Worming in rabbits is a little controversial, as most rabbits have worms and they don't tend to have the same effect as they can in animals such as cats and dogs, although they can do. Routine worming in rabbits still isn't common, but your vet can easily test a sample to see if worming is required if you want them to.

How do you stop house bunnies from eating everything?

Do all rabbits really have worms? Envy
