It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of Squeak, who died today after a protracted illness. She was 18 months old. She fought against a respiratory infection bravely, but a virus on top was too much.
She was born in a small town, bred to be food for snakes, but overcame her humble beginnings to become the close and beloved companion of dd. She loved yoghurt, and housekeeping, and stealing Monster High accessories to decorate her beautiful nests of twisted paper. She was at her happiest curled up in the crook of dd's arm, and spent most of her last night there, listening to dd crooning to her.
She is survived by Bubble, her devoted friend, who spent many happy hours nibbling the top of her head, and trying to find the food which Squeak had hidden for a rainy day.
RIP Squeak -- we were privileged to have known you.

Aw Sad to hear - RIP Squeak
She sounds like a character Smile and her photos are lovely. Was she a pure white with those ruby eyes?

DD and I were watching some rats the other day, climbing, standing on their hind legs, poking their quivering little noses into everything.
A rat display at Chessington years ago, the audience sat transfixed as this tiny rodent scuttled along a gang-rope (they were demonstrating how rats got onto the ships)

On her last night with you she was comforted and chatted to. If rats have a life-flashes-before-you-moment hers would have been an adventure.
Snake food indeed Sad Angry

Thanks 70, very sad today. She was albino, with glowing red eyes. She could climb well, and dd lost many treasures only to find them in the back of the rat cage. Trying to work out what to do about a friend for Bubble, who is sitting hunched up alone.

here's a link to a Rat rescue charity who can find you a companion for Bubble Smile

RIP Squeak :(

Sorry for your loss, it's horrible losing a rat :(

WRT Bubble, we got two babies to join our Nibbles when we found out that her sister was dying. The babies joined them before Ruby died but they've settled in well. It's been three weeks since Ruby passed and the three of them are doing okay, Nibbles is starting to get back to her friendly self again now :)

It might be worth checking on Rattit (www.reddit.com/r/rats) to see if anybody knows of anywhere near you for rescues too.
