Today, another Super Furry Animal crossed The Rainbow Bridge :(

Our older pig GP1 (Chester) has been getting a bit middle aged these past few weeks.
Still loving his cuddles and food but we knew he was going to shrug off this mortal coil.
Yesterday GP1 and GP3 were out in their run for a good 10 hours, larding about . Then cuddles and supper (in their clean cage)

I gave them breakfast, opened their window and put the fan on.
DD went to see them after school.......

GP1 was curled into a little croissant shape by the tunnel. (The food had been scoffed so we don't know when he 'went' )

He was nearly 4 yo. He had a good spoiled life.

We are going to get some ladeez for GP3 and get him neutered. I couldn't trust GP3 with a mini boar he's very much "The Man" and though GP1 was very blase, a tiny piglet wouldn't cope with him.

So tonight, GP1 will spend a last night with his GP3. Then tomorrow , we say goodbye to him.

Such sad news about your lovely Chester, what an amazing life he must've had in his penthouse/ pig house ( and larding around in the run of course!). So sorry to hear this, how's your daughter this evening? X

He was a Rescue (with his brother) . The brother died July last year

DD is very down, but she knew he was going downhill
Last night, GP1 sat smugly in DH arms looking all pleased with himself. DD was cuddling GP3.

I always aim for an animal to die in his owners arms or his own bed.
He managed the own bed one.

Next sad thing will be cleaning out the Pighouse to eradicate all traces of GP1, clean, steam, de-odourise in preparation

Sending dandelion hugs to your little GP boy. Sounds like the perfect way to go to me. Yes that will be difficult, I bet your little pig won't know what's hit him when he gets his harem!

Very sad news about Chester way to go little man demanding food in the morning, quietly leaving in the afternoon.

RIP

He's in a Lock'n'Lock box full of pear leaves (his favourite sneaky leaf snack) and DH will have the arduous task of digging a hole in the concrete that is our soil.

I am very mindful of OB and his determination to get to his new girls .We have a large(ish) cage (the 2'x4') that is secure and I can put in the Pighouse , with GP3 having the haybox+ the rest of the space.
Cage has a plastic base so they'll only be able to see each other face-to-face if they stretch or when we chaparone them.

GP3 will sleep in DD room at night until we get him company.
Then he'll get the operation to lose his Gentlemans' Vegetables , spend a while looking judgily at me , have no hay to sleep in,and have a John Wayne walk until he's ready to be introduced properly .

So sorry to hear about Chester. I know he had a wonderfully spoilt life and it's lovely that he went so peacefully and after a snack.

Hope your DD is okay and GP3 is coping. No doubt he will be beside himself when he gets his girls. Though he'll probably never speak to you again after that vet visit.

Aww 70. So sorry to hear about GP1. You and DD gave him such a lovely life. Hugs to you both, what sad news but it sounds as if his passing was about as peaceful as you could hope for.

Special hugs and virtual parsley to GP3 whilst he grieves and awaits his new 'harem'. (The dietcoke boars would like to reassure him that having gal pals makes it worth the discomfort in the end Their advice is to milk said discomfort for as many dandelion leaves as possible).

When my time comes, I truly hope I can spend the day before larking about in the sun with my best friend, then eat a full breakfast, and then curl up into a croissant shape and go to sleep forever. Not a bad way to go!

Ah the Old Bean had a good life I'd say.
GP1 and GP2 came to us as 1 yo on the request of my DD who wanted boars,
Almost exactly a year ago, we lost GP2 and had a lone pig until we got GP3.
Now GP3 is on DD bed watching TV with her.
And although GP1 was showing 'signs' of slowing down (getting thinner, more 'rat faced', lumps and bumps) he still was first to the food bowl and would tell GP3 off if he got too bumptious.

So, yes, in reflection, a peaceful end. When DD found him he was curled up, haven't peed or struggled so I reckon he just went "Bye World" and slid across the Bridge to his brother.

We are picking up some sows next week. DD and I are doing the name selections to a shortish short list

Ah, 70 - not been on here much, so very sorry just to hear your news. As others have said, you can be absolutely confident he had the best life you could have given him, but you must be sad. Enjoy the new arrivals when they come.

Don't worry Pacific the threads have been moving quickly in Super Furry Land.

We gave our new laydeez supper and breakfast but not much evidence of pigs apart from the food going and the droppings appearing
(We'll get them out for a cuddle tonight)
