Hamsters - does anybody know if they can be hurt by vibrations from building work?

A young guy working in our local pet shop said he found his hamster dead in his cage after the neighbours did building work which made the walls vibrate, and he said the stress from the vibrations killed his hamster.

I am probably worrying about nothing, but there is building work going on outside; I can feel some vibrations and the house is noisy. We have 2 recently acquired Syrian hamsters (very cute - one for dd, one for ds, in separate cages of course!), and have moved them to the back of the house with towels under their cages.

Anybody with hamsters, have you heard of them being harmed by vibrations from building work?

I haven't heard of it but i wonder if it was the noise of the building work rather than the vibrations that killed them.
I'm not sure what you could do other than what you've already done.

Ooh I don't know but I think that's a good idea what you've done.

We've recently had our house rewired and moved out to my Mums whilst the work was being done. The Hamster (also a Syrian, gorgeous aren't they!) came with us as well.
