Looking after one for a friend, how many handfuls of gp muesli would you give in a day? And how many handfuls of hay? Thanks

Is it one pig? (2 pigs especially boars can be greedy and a bit narky over food so I tend to give extra, but one wouldn't have the competition)

WRT dried food, I give mine Excell Pellets, they suggest 30-50g per adult pig daily ( I give a flat handful and there's usually a few left which is fine)

Hay - depends if it's just for eating or for bedding too. Do they have a seperate sleeping area? If you fill the floor with hay, the pig will eat/sleep on it. (In summer I don't give as much hay because it keeps them too warm- enough for them to eat but changed daily)
Probably a couple of big handfuls and see if it's all gone - they tend to eat dusk/dawn most.

You need to change the dry food daily and the water.

Have you got a veg list that the pig likes? Grin

The GP does need access to hay all the time, so if it's gone by tomorrow, top it up (fresh paper if piggie is a manky blighter)

I give mine about 2kg hay every 2 days at the minute, but they have a big haybox and a corner full of hay with a wicker house. I've got a young male and an older male and they clean their plates.
Wish my human son ate as much veg

Sorry for not getting back - ended up dealing with poorly little one.

Just one male gp. I don't have a list of veggies although I have slipped him a couple of carrots! Since read they shouldn't eat too many of them.

The hay is just in a manger thing. And then drops down to the food area.

He's been giving lots of little squeaks and things. And sniffing at the bars.

Thanks for the advice.
