Boris Update! - To to make a rescue guinea happy!!! :)

Dear All

Some of you know that I am guineapigless at the moment, but am 'auntie' to a second hand rescue boy, blond Boris, who lives with a lovely family up the road. I popped round this week WITH A BIG BAG OF DANDELIONS !!! - was greeted by lots of wheeking, and Boris, now minus abscess, was ready for a cuddle and to be hand fed, just for a while, so lots of progress has been made. He is still very slight though, needs some more weight on him, but he is obviously a smaller type anyway, - he has the most beautiful eyes, and is much livelier and confident. Great to see.

I guess the message to all you kind folk who have rescued guineas, or are trying to pair up lonely, pining guineas, is that time is a great healer for these little creatures, it does take time for them to settle into a new home, and get confident. This little chap had been outside all his life with little or no handling or interest, and his owners were getting rid of him as they 'no longer needed him' .

He is now the sweetest, friendliest little soul, and his life has improved dramatically, good food, lots of love and attention and medical intervention at the right time. It is a really successful and happy story as his last years will now be spent in a loving family. It is better to give them lots of time rather than expect them to fit in immediately and it is worth it in the long run for the animal's well being. Good luck to all of you in this situation. XXX

That's excellent news Guineapiglet. So glad Boris is doing well and if he needs fattening up he's welcome to come here - all my animals seem to end up plump.

So glad to hear that BorisPig has rallied round after his recent abscess. Sounds like he's got his paws well and truly under the table and is settling nicely. (Are the Resident Boars still being a bit tetchy?)
He's got lots to look forward to, hopefully once the good weather is here he'll get out and about again.
(I'm schwelching across the lawn every day testing out the new wellies. It'll be a good while till my pigs can get out in their run). Very at the dandelions though, we have none. Though I did cut some grass which gladdened their Little Pig Hearts.

On the subject of Rescues, we saw a picture of our Piglet on the Rescue Website in the Rehomed Successfully Section. (I'm 10000% sure it's him he was a tiny little scrap and the photo was dated the day before we got him. He was picked up, vet checked and adopted by us within 48 hours) DD and I emailed the Rescue and let them know that little piglet Dill was now a huge teen beast ).

Lots of cuddles all round for all the SFA.

My GP2 was always a lean and lanky type.
Is Boris an Abby? They seem to be smaller built. He might just be little if he's not had a good start though

GP1 lost alot of condition this summer but DD excitedly reports that he's getting his Winter Fat back- and there's more than a suggestion of a second chin.

My ginger girl had a mane, too. Thats probably where the resemblance ended!!!

He could be an abby will check. Two resident boars are MASSIVE but still separated but next to each other. Still arsey tho Boris and less arsey one seem to get on well and when they are out sem to be BFFs.

Hopefully all these furries will be able to get out fairly soon when the floods subside so they dont end up with cabin fever :)

We have just adopted two beautiful little girl guineas from a local rescue, a companion each for our tricolour and ginger boars (who had a major fall out last year, can't live together any more so we opted for neutering and a wife each). Both our girls had apparently been quite badly neglected prior to being rescued but have rallied well since. It is amazing how these little creatures do respond to a bit of love and care and parsley

That's good to hear. Our rescue boars are living side by side but separately at the moment (due to major biting incident), and I sometimes feel sad for them not having immediate company. And then I remember that they were destined to be snake food and instead are warm, well fed and spoilt rotten and that cheers me up! Incipient double chin here too - lardy boar, not me (I hope)!
