I have my priories right, have ordered the guineas their gift before getting anything for DH

Shopped on ebay and have ordered a wooden corner tunnel that has a ramp so they can sit on top of it. I was thinking the ramp would be good if they could learn how to use it I have my doubts sometimes they have epic fails jumping back up into the hutch we have laminate floor. L-shaped tunnel is bound to be fun and its wood, good for gnawing. Hoping for happy girls Christmas morning

That sounds good Fortified. I have spoken to Santa about the GPs having new houses for their cage - ones they can chew. Current Bun needs a new basket. He inherited this one from our previous bun and the GPs have chewed it so it looks a bit of a mess. I've seen a nice cat basket which would be great for him. I just won't let him know it's meant for cats . (His current basket is for dogs).

Oh and the usual parsley etc plus they get to play in the wrapping paper on Christmas morning which is their favourite bit of the day

DD has already bought and wrapped some guinea biscuits

I bought my furbabies two bathmats from Primark for their indoor run (but they have them now, not waiting)

I'll give them some exotic veg (sprout tree, bagged salady bits) they are boys of simple tastes.
Maybe a parsley bell for them.
And all the boxes that will arrive - DH has an Ebay/Amazon habit .

Haven't got any guineas of my own to buy for this year, but will be taking the boys up the road any greenery we have, my girls used to quite like the odd sprout and cabbage leaves, plus any big boxes to cut doors out of and hide in.

When it was cold ( but not cold enough to bring in) they would get a new hay bale as a pressie and go and make tunnels and wee and poop in that- kept them busy and entertained for weeks.

guineapiglet inspired by your hay bale present, I give the boys an entire 4kg bag of hay in the haybox and floor of the Pighouse . (Bit OTT but they love it. And luckily they have 'pooh/pee' corners so I do spot cleaning every night.

I can imagine my lazy toads if I gave them a whole bale:
"What am I meant to do here"?
"Can you tart this off Dad"?
They'd look from all angles then nibble the edges.

DD found a bird wing with feathers in the hay last week. Imagine if they got to the middle and found a whole seagull

And , not a present for the hogs, but I bought a guinea-pig Olympics Calender for DD for 2014.

Even by my standards, this is embarrassing!

We will sit and read it to them on Christmas Eve mind you.

They like the 'L' shaped tunnel. Millie Pig likes stepping out onto it from the hutch, like a huge guinea veranda. But none of them have worked out how to use the ramp As Old Boy would say "Its new fangled" [Fwink]

Loved the guineapig nativity, I might have to buy it for, er,.............me!
And the Christmas tree looks fab as well, I already have a guinea calendar and mugs to admire, but the local garden centre has a lovely stone guinea pig, I have been admiring it, but its eyes are too big and it looks a bit scary, so won't be buying that.

When we moved a good friend gave me some china guinea salt and pepper pots, and nobody has dropped themyet !!

my little boar -gp3- is sitting on my lap, which is why i'm 'one handed typing' watching an old star trek episode on the horror channel.

I found the Guinea-Pigs Christmas Hats today.

Baby Dill (DD still calls him Baby Dill even though he's the size of a small rabbit now) will be having his first Christmas - he's going to be very judgey thrilled to little mintballs with our strange family traditions.

(Involves guineas in hats and sprouts)

We have the GP nativity book too! My DDs were disappointed that the baby Jesus doesn't look like a real GP, but I guess it would be cruel to put a real baby GP in a manger...

Hadn't realised I was supposed to buy the GPs presents, though. I think their new enormous side by side C&C run might have to do!

My guinea-pig Santa hats were actually bottle toppers from the PoundShop.
They are quite narrow (to fit on bottles rather than cavy bonces) but they stay on for about 90 nanoseconds to take a picture.

Parsely bell is a solid packed dry herby chew thing, in a bell shape - very festive ( with a string to dangle from the bars. IIRC the string is a rafia so they can chew it)

I got one from Jolleys Pet Shop a while back (mainly for when they were winter overnighting indoors) My GP2 used to do alot of 3am noisy cardboard chewing

re. the flooring, am still at the experimenting stage - they've only been in it a couple of weeks. I have tried just newspaper, with hay in piles in a couple of corners, but that seemed to get too wet. So at the moment I am using (in rotation) a variety of old towels, thick old cotton woven rugs and an old acrylic picnic blanket, over newspaper. Actually the blanket is probably the best for wicking the moisture away to the newspaper underneath - the towels tend to get a bit too damp. And the rugs work well but they're very thick so hard to get dry after they've been washed. Thinking of maybe investing in some fleece. Also need to start getting newspapers during the week as well as at weekends as don't have enough to last me all week at the moment!

I had to separate them after a nasty biting incident. They are separated by a couple of mesh panels, so they can see each other and chat. They mostly ignore each other, though. And then every now and again they do this thing where they line up right next to the mesh, parallel to each other, stretch themselves out and rumble at each other. I am hoping to reintroduce them come the spring but to be honest, I am finding it much easier having them separated - they had had a few minor bust ups before the big one, and I was constantly worrying about them before, dreading coming back after a day out in case they'd had a spat etc.

We are proud owners of "Guinea-Pig Nativity" in our house.

DD was excitedly looking for guineas that looked like her boys.

GP3 was so excited by the book he peed on DH ( DH was not amused)

dotty my guinea boys are in at night. They like to keep a respectable distance in the outdoor Pighouse. The floor and the haybox are covered in hay & soft straw.
GP3 tends to hog ( haha Hog ) the haybox while GP1 parks himself in the wicker house buried in hay.

Indoors they like their own 'corner'.
They've got hay, (in a trug or a Primark bag to keep it off the fleece).
Puppy pads under towels to stop them eating them.
Bathmats from IKEA and Primark ( cheapy memory foam type) they wash well and dry on the radiator, I was a bit dubious but they don't eat them ( not promising that all guineas would be so obliging)

My GP1 is getting a bit middle aged now and likes his comfort.
