I have fallen in love with a poor abandoned sow I saw on the RSPCA website... Not far from my house... Could easily go and get her... Waiting for DP to get home tonight and I will show him! She is 2 years old and is just waiting to be housed with other piggies.

Convince me to take her! Grin I need no convincing!

Go get herGrin I recently adopted GP3 and have totally fallen in love with the little fella. Just imagine how happy her life will be being given a safe new home with other piggies to bond/play with!!
Is hubbie likely to be a problem?

We have two 13 week old sows that have only been with us for 2 weeks after our very much loved and missed 4.5 yr old sows were eaten by a fox. :(

DP thinks 2 is enough but I can't bear the thought of poor little Gloria sat all on her own :(

It could work out or you could end up with a 2+1 setup.

If you do get Golria (and change her name) Grin you'll need to do gradual introductions.
Just because she's a sow doesn't mean she'll be enamoured of two little piggies. And there might be a reason she's alone.

But if you can do it slowly and prepare to keep her side-by-side if it doesn't work...then at least this guinea girl would have company of her own kind, and a lovely home.

Your DP needs a "chat". Mine is the same but I'd worry about the logistics of more than 2 boars so he's right in our case.

I in my head think 3 is nice or 4 because then if one dies there wont be a lone pig situation .

I knew you would speak sense 70 I don't really have the room for a 2 + 1 set up. I have a very big hutch so of course in an ideal world the end result would be all 3 of them living together...

The earliest I can get there is Saturday. But I honestly don't see me changing my mind before then Grin

I have an indoor run I can keep her in and do gradual introductions... Fingers crossed? Or leave her for someone else? Help me help me!!

Cannot work how to do links on my phone but she is on the RSPCA website in West Malling branch...

It says she needs a home with other guineas........ they might suggest you bring your piggie girls to see her first?

Shouldn't have looked at Guinea_Boys 9,10,12,13 that are for rehoming Sad

Oh do try and get Gloria and keep her name If she has been on her own I'm sure she'll be over the moon to see other piggies even if they are 13 weeks old.

Just one thing, if you've seen her on a RSPCA web-site, won't you need a home check first? I've fallen for a handsome boar and am waiting for RSPCA to phone me to arrange a visit Hmm

Yes I called and they said to go down, fill out a form and then they will do a home visit (within a week apparenty).

Do you think I should ring them back and ask them if it's ok to bring the girls in to meet her?

aw she is a cutey pops - quite short haired for a Peruvian - you must get her she must have been neglected and matted as she looks like her barber is of my standard Grin

It'll be weird because your new babies will have felt tiny after S&P. Then they'll be growing.
And Gloria will feel huge compared to them .

(Our GP3 is catching up with GP1 sizewise. I'm convinced he's a Rex rather than a Swiss the more I research. They do get big. I really need to get photos of him on my profile )

Peruvians do take a bit of grooming (I had a black female called Marmite years ago. She was a daily comb and regular bath but it becomes part of their cuddle routine. I used a baby comb on her fur.

Salt was long haired and loved her baths.. We could never really convince pepper of the benefits!

I'm excited but I am still so :( about my first ever gp babies :(

I bathed GP1 before he met his new step-son

I haven't bathed GP3 (I like my skin too much)

DD says "Let's bath him"
I say "Good Luck with that"

Dill is my 15th guinea-pig ( in my family through the years).
Every one of them has their own special place in my heart (even Evil Edna Grin )

You've reminded me that I need to bath my boys (I was trying to ignore the smell Grin). They hate it and kick up a right fuss - it's a 12 person job really! Thank goodness for Current Bun who is self-cleaning.

Looking forward to the pics of Poppy and Daisy and of Gloria when she arrives. Did your DH sigh and give in immediately? Mine moans about the mess the boys generate and the room they take up but he always goes to say 'bye' whenever he leaves the house. Even my Dad makes sure to say 'hello' when he comes round. I think men like them more than they let on.
