All I can say is Fatimus rl name Rosie Toffee give up the fight to live anymore. She felt tortoured and had enough.

She refused the metacam and stopped eating though she did have some grass that DD2 picked her after school. There was hardly any poo or wee all day and she must have been very uncomfortable.

In the evening I give her fibreplex and critical care but it wasn't enough to save her. Naughty has been missing her this week and I put them together. They smuggled in and comforted each other. Naughty stuck her head under Fatimus chin. After Naughty went back to the hutch Fatimus tucked herself away in her cuddle sac, bum towards us and no tasty treat would tempt her.

At 3.00am I woke up and found she had moved the food around but was in a deep sleep. Then she opened her eyes a bit and looked like she was straining for a painful poo. I'd seen enough and syringed metacam into her mouth and hoped she would eat cucumber to take the taste away but she didn'tSad I think after awhile the pain relief kicked in and she slipped off into sleep again. I went to bed know that would be the last time I saw her alive. I was right. I was up again at 7.00am and she had gone.

I think if it hadn't been for her needing the second operation to repair the stitching I believe she would have made it. She was quite bright on Tuesday. Who knows if she done more damage to herself.

Naughty has seen her but clearly didn't want to be with her (so different from last night) so she knows.

Fatimus and Old Boy adored each other so Fatimus will be buried next to him.

I am heartbroken again DD1 has taken it harder than I thought she would and DD2 was in lots of tears. Fatimus was DD2 guinea pig but we all loved her.

RIP Rosie Toffee. You rode buses, grew huge, were greedy, bossy, liked to sit on my shoulder and drove Todd wild with desire and gave him something to live a long life for Flowers

So so sorry to hear about Rosie Toffee - read you post with tears in my eyes Hmm. She had a tough old time these last couple of weeks, poor girl. You did everything you could for her. She had a very adventurous life and will be missed by all of the pig lovers here who enjoyed hearing about her antics. Hugs for you and virtual parsley for Naughty Girl.

Awwww - just read this......
Poor Fatimus, she'd really been through the wringer.
I reckon you're right- 2 lots of anaesthetic is a lot for a little piggie to take on board (but as you say, the second lot was an emergency operation)

It's so sad when you see their little floppy bodies but you know she went at home, in her own surroundings.
Trying to get medication and Critical Care down the tiny throat of a guinea-pig who doesn't want to entertain the idea is hard work. You feel quite mean don't you. It needs done but they really don't want to know.

She'll be with her Squeeze (as my aunt calls it) Old Boy.

Bye Rosie Toffee to The Rainbow Bridge.

And fortified think back to the post you did where Fatimus got under the run to dance about with Old Boy. Gave you a few sleepless nights, thinking "They couldn't? Not in that time. "
I'll bet OB winked and Fatimus smirked.
Cheeky Devils,

Sad news today.

Fortified so so sorry to hear about Fatimus - how old was she - poor poor piggy, she was lucky to have you ease her suffering in the end, so many lovelies have gone to the rainbow bridge this year after long happy lives - I bet they are all having a blast together now In piggy heaven Sad

Mintyy · 13/09/2013 14:04

Oh she was a beautiful round girl! Sad.

I am sorry for your heartbreak. I hope she gets to meet my own much-missed Cookie and Nibbles when she gets over the rainbow bridge.

Thoughts are very much with you fortified Flowers.

MissStrawberry · 13/09/2013 14:16

I am so sorry Sad.

I have just read both your threads and no one could have cared for their GP better than you.

RIP Rosie Flowers.

We lost our GP a few days ago and have brought in his companion now to be with us in the lounge. It is so tough to lose a family member.

Another one reading this with tears in her eyes - I was so optimistic for Rosie, aka Fatimus, bless her, after the first op, and you did so much to help and make it easy for her - they are such delicate little souls, and it sounds like the second episode was too much for an elderly lady. Very upset to read your news, I know how much you will be missing her, these little loves are so important to us and leave a huge hole.

I am a great believer that she will now be in a guinea type heaven, full of lovely food, endless supplies of grass, cucumber and all her favourite foods, oh and her dear old friend OB - the love we have for them never goes away. Will be thinking of you and your family.
ThanksBrew

I'm so sorry fortified to read this. I sure you must all be devastated:( You gave her a lovely life and did absolutely everything that you could for her. She will be running free now over rainbow bridge free from any pain. Sending virtual hugs to your family and remaining piggy.xx

So sorry to hear this, you did all you could. Thinking of you and your family x

Sawdust · 14/09/2013 12:12

I'm so sorry to hear this. You did absolutely everything you could - and obviously loved her very much. She was a lucky pig to have you looking after her Flowers

fortifiedwithtea · 14/09/2013 15:13

Thanks for all your kind messages. I can read them today without crying again.

DH still has to dig a very deep fox proof hole. I keep looking at her and thinking the place is going to look like CLarks shoe shop before I find a box suitable for her. She went to the bridge head on front paws, back paws tucked in nicely but Lordy she was a long piggy Shock

Naughty has had a lot of cuddles, she is spending too much time in the hutch bedroom. We discovered she loves Hobnobs last night well who can resist Grin Naughty had a bunch of grass on my lap today and DD2 got the biscuits out. Well her piggy nose went so far in the air, she remembered the yumminess, so she had another tiny piece Wink
