Right, these cube-and-correx cages you can make...

Has anyone else here been mad enough to try to construct a giant guinea pig cage out of cube mesh panel thingies?

I can get the grids (and in fact have a teetering pile awaiting DS2's fixing skills) but not sure how to get the corrugated plastic sheets and how thick they need to be. We don't seem to have any local signwriting companies so need to do it online (should have checked that out a bit more carefully before getting the grids, in retrospect)!

There seems to be a choice of 2mm or 4mm. 2mm sounds very thin; anyone used it?

otherwise i have a nice set of grid-based shelves for the inside of the wardrobe, I suppose...

We just used lino under ours and sort of curved it up the sides a bit.

Thanks, Kingprawn! I've bodged it with a bit of hardboard and a lot of newspaper for the moment and the girls look very happy, popcorning all over the place, though they tend to bounce when they land -- sort of sprung dance floor for GPs. There's a flooring shop about 5 miles away that must surely do lino for a more permanent solution.

I have a c&c cage for my piggies!! I think they are fab. Very easy to clean, and you can make fantastic size cages for them, much bigger than what the shops sell. My boys are in a 6x2 cage with an enclosed upper level as well. They love it, although the ramp was difficult to make as it had to be enclosed all the way up for safety so they couldn't fall off the edges!!
The plastic sheet we have is 4mm. I wouldn't go any thinner tbh and there are some good websites that give you step by step instructions in how to cut it. Took us 2 attempts, its trickier than it looksGrin Good luck!!
