Guinea pigs and new lawn

My GPs currently have a hutch and run on slabs which they have constant access to. I'm going to lay them a little lawn fully enclosed in a run. About 1m x 2.2m.

First question. Will I have to give the grass a chance to 'take' before setting the GPs on it?
Second question. They will have constant aves to it in summer months. Would it be better to have a couple of slabs next to the hitch for when it's a bit damp?

I had a lawn done a few years back (re-turfed after building work). It took a while for it to settle in (but it was turfed in the winter, probably not ideal)

I'd check and make sure there's no chemical weedkiller or fertilizer on it too.

If you have a couple of slabs you can put some cardboard down for them to sit on, but I don't put mine out on the grass if it's damp. I know rabbits like to have unrestricted access to their run, but they can sit out in snow if they choose to.
Guineas don't like damp tummies (though I'm not sure my boys would have the savvy to consider this Grin )
