.......There are no Guinea pigs in the fudges house hold
Our last remaining pig died yesterday leaving us pig less-ok we've still got 2 cats, a bunny and 28 children (we are childminders not insane!!!! ) to lavish care and love on but a house isn't a home with out a few pigs is it!?

I hit that stage 2yrs ago. I'd had 25yrs of various piggies and wanted a break to get the shed tidy and a few less chores for a while.

House still doesn't feel right without piggies. I've kept the nice hutch and bowls so once we can move house and have a bit more space I'll be off to the animal rescue for more piggies.

I still can't get used to composting surplus chunks of cucumber or lettuce, it's ingrained in me to pop it in the hutch.

And the lawn mowing. I have a small lawn and 2 piggies kept on top of the lawn, these days I have to get the mower out. So, it's probably more work for me than when I had them.

Hi all - very sad to hear your news today fudges, I can only empathise - we have had our first Christmas without guineas for 8 years and we all really mised them. Sounds like you have lots of other things to keep you busy! Agree with you tho' and Meg, a house is not a home when you cant get your lawn cut and have those cheeky little faces looking up at you. All you can do is decide whether you want to go through the 'cycle' again, and perhaps seek a nearby rescue who has a couple urgently seeking new homes, then you would be doing a great service to them and your 28 (!!!) children! Thank you Meglet and guineapiglet for your lovely reply's. I don't think we will be pig less for long-DH has just suggested a trip to our local pets at home..... will keep you all posted!!!!!

Please don't go there go to a GP rescue to get your pigs

But as silver says, don't go to Pets@Home.
Their GPs are tiny babies. When I was asking ,the staff member said they are imported from Spain.
Why?
And how many don't survive the journey.
I pointed out 2 (in the boar tank) with closed up eyes (to be told "they're sleepy") erm no- that's not it.

WatchDog highlighted the plight of GPs with ringworm (nightmare to get rid of- and can spread to people)

Rescue is full to bursting (as Terry Prachett wrote- after Christmas and summer holidays, they have their sales on but funny)

You could offer to foster some for a local rescue if you don't want to commit at this stage.

70 got there before me. The thought of a silent trip to the fridge very sad . Having recently lost a beloved pig I feel your pain ((Hugs)).
