Help! female piggies gone bonkers!

I have 2 sisters and had them long enough to know they definitely are girls. This morning one of them keeps jumping on the other, almost like mating? Cue much squeaking from the one being mounted and lots of chasing each other round the cage. What's going on? Should I seperate them?

Even females pigs do the 'mating' ritual. It's one of those dominance things usually (unless it's a male/female mating thing )

How old are your girls? Teenage arsey age? Blame the cold weather !

Don't seperate them but give them lots of distraction- boxes, Primark bags (cut the handles off- yes I'm looking at you GP1),
Can you put them in a neutral room? In a paddling pool or playpen,. They'll be busy exploring.
Food. Hay.
Enough space so they don't have an excuse to push each other out the way.

We always take our two boys to seperate rooms to cuddle, give them some space.

My boars have the occasional squabble (I notice it now they are in at night) but I put a duvet over their cage, give them a big box of hay or two smaller ones and let them sort it out. It's no more than some weird pidgeon sounds but I know they have a Face-Off.

But we did find Boar Glue on GP1 tummy and chin last week.

It's a dominance thing. Female rabbits do it as well. My piggie boys do this usually at cabbage time - I think it's to decide who gets first pick of the leaves. Leave them to it, they'll settle down. If it gets too rough, throw some food at them - it'll distract them for a while.

Hi all - what is up with all these guineas this week - is it is the snow? The cold? the boredom of being inside all the time? I only have to look at my kids now to see the effect 'being indoors' is having on them - non stop squabbling and bickering!!!

Girls do get stroppy with each other, and everything 70 has suggested is brilliant, lots of distractions and maybe new places to explore. We had a large basement which I used to cover in newspaper and put in carboard boxes full of hay and bits of food etc to keep them exploring and interested - they found it VERY exciting and I could hear them talking to each other and running back excitedly to tell the others about it ( and getting hay and pooh everywhere as well, thank goodness for tiled, washable floors!).

Thanks all. We did put them apart briefly as they were going nuts and my eldest child was getting really upset thinking they'd get hurt. They seem ok now - have taken 70's advice on board and distracted them with a huge pile of hay and some veg.

Same here. Fatimus has been arsey with Naughty Girl for about a week now . The rumblings got so bad today I've let them freerange the lounge and their hutch is massive .

So now they are like evil twins. Fatimus is doing the guinea pig train behind Naughty and their have been gnawing on Old Boy's hutch and trying to break in. The vandals . Its empty, disinfected, no food in there and they still think its a good hidey hole!

PS forgot to say ime girl pigs spray pee in the face of their hutch mate when they are in a really arsey mood. Every sex has its own joy .
