WHOOPS! Guinea related disasters today!!!

1. My husband has just returned from work, he borrowed our lap top for a presentation at work, and welcomed delegates with what he thought was a work related slide show. Our daughter had uploaded all our guinea photos, and put THEM in a slide show on the computer as well. Hoots of laughter from the delegates as lots of furry faces shot into view, in glorious technicolour! I think they were quite impressed at such a novel introduction to such a boring subject, but my husband was vair upset about it!

1. Decided, after looking at Kritiqs wonderful oil/acrylic painting of her guineas I would have a go again at a drawing < miserable grey day, ironing and running daughter to college, me time> - got very absorbed with it, and end result not too bad, they are so difficult to draw in 3D - its the flatish eyes with those very delicate rims! Forgot had left pan of brown rice simmering away until the call 'whats for tea?' came up the stairs. < a burnt offering>. SO no tea, stroppy husband, but the start of a good picture

wish I'd been one of the delegates. Sounds a scream.

Drawing guinea pigs is not for me, all that fur . Might have a go at a Kate Middleton not . I go to an art lesson at Adult Education once a week and am hoping to go to college full time in September.

He's calmed down a bit now - plus I gave him the drawing I had done to remind him of an 'epic' presentation, they are not likely to forget are they?
Fortified -really jealous of your art course, am considering joining one myself - but do have a go at sketching guineas, they really don't do 'still life' unless they are sound asleep, but it is so hard to capture their 'depth' if you know what I mean (?!?) and they are such lovely shapes.
Bonkey when it makes national gallery status, will let you have signed copy - you'll have to fight husband for it!

Ha ha - I feel somehow partly responsible for this state of affairs!

Powerpoints are SO very boring. At least hour DH's will be remembered.

On another note - while I was looking for ^ that, I found this , now I have guineas and a horse (albeit a small one) , do you think its possible?

My boars would be wearing a BHS approved Kitemarked riding hat and back protector
(Used to do alot of horseriding in my younger days - Old Gimmer Emoticon)

Actually, second thoughts, GPs would just tear into the stable, run through the straw then devour the hay

Hi all - yes 70 you need to liven up your computer courses, you could email everyone with a 'helpful' attachment! ( guinea flavoured, of course!)

Bonkey I think those photos were from the guineapig olympics calendar, there are photos of them doing all the olympic events - not always with the correct safety gear!

Hee Hee, interesting you mentioned NHS training 70. I got a request via Flickr to use this image of one of my late boars from someone who wanted to use it for a presentation to a group of NHS staff who'd been involved in some kind of computer pilot, I think in Bristol (hence - they were the guinea pigs.)

So, you never know!

Great stuff Kritiq -but you have made me and my daughter shed a tear with your wonderful picture of your ginger guinea, he/she? is the ABSOLUTE image of my daughter's 'special girl' Rosie ( aka Miss Splodge) - the pink ears, the light in the eye and the obvious computer skills - I know guineas do look similar, especially those which are a 'solid colour', but it could be her, - an amazing likeness!! Our Rosie lived until she was about 5 and a half, was very bossy, but loved sleeping on my daughter's bed and was such a comfort to her when she was so ill with quite some time off school, they were inseparable.

Hi guienapiglet. Only just saw this. Gethin was a boar, but a very small one. He was the "cover boy" in the July issue of Guinea Pig Magazine. He was such a charming and gentle rodent.

Rosie sounds wonderful and 5 1/2 is such a good age. Sadly Gethin was not quite 4 when he went to the Rainbow Bridge. He'd had a problem with recurrent colds, which I thought was down to his short nose, but then had one he couldn't shake. The vet and I both had suspicions and an xray confirmed an enlarged heart. Despite aggressive treatment, he only lived another couple weeks, but was gentle and loving right to the end. I think piggies DO sense your upset and can be amazingingly comforting, like your Rosie. RIP Rosie. RIP Gethin.
