Water for guinea pigs?

Can anyone help?

I've tried 2 different water bottles but they drip drip drip and the cage is sodden at one end. I tried a ceramic bowl but they poo in it.
I've heard that some GPs can get all their water from veg (mine get loads) but I wouldn't want to leave them without.

Any suggestions?

One of mine has a bottle, the other has a bowl.The only reason LittlePig no longer has a bowl is because the little sod digs and everything ends up soaked!

I personally prefer the bowl, I find it easier to clean/fill every morning and eve, and tbh they eat their poo, so abit of it in the bowl isn't going to hurt.

Some drink lots some don't.
My BigPig drinks but hardley anything. LittlePig has a third of a medium bottle a day at the moment (I'm sure this is because the heating is on) . Some pigs don't drink anything but should have the water there should they feel the need.

Have you tried some kitchen roll under the bottle and chage as and when or would they eat it? Or newspaper and just roll it up everyday?

I think I'll just have to put up with the poo. I'll change it twice a day though.

Bowl under bottle is a good idea except the water seems to just miss the bowl and still go everywhere.

I tried loads of bottles but couldn't find one that didn't leak (even with the fill it up, create a vacuum, let it drip till it stops - it didn't stop)
I give mine a fresh bowl of room temperature water every night. They never drink it, even in summer.
They do eat loads of veg and pee like billy-o so I know they are getting fluids.

Noe of my nine girls EVER drank from a bowl, like you 70 I used to leave fresh bowl out every night, and inthe morning it would be full of poo and old veg etc, - an often spilt where one of them had tipped it over or something ,so the cage would be wet from that.......

In the end I tried lots of different water bottles, it was the only thing they would use, some pulled at it vigorously - ( they often drink non stop if they are unwell), others never seemed to drink at all. They were out on grass alot of the time, and were always weeing ,so fluid intake was fine - so invariably there would be a 'wet patch' in the corner of the cage where the bottle was, so I would just change the newspaper under it so that bit of the cage would be dry some of the time.

They DEFINITELY need a source of fresh water. Sometimes they may appear to drink more than others, and some pigs seem thirstier than others, but they won't get enough fluid just from vegetables.

Being glass, it can go in the dishwasher (although this will wear out the rubber ring faster if you put the nozzle part in there too,) and I've never found it to drip. It's flat on the back, so sits more firmly on the side of the cage than one that's round.

I've never found any 'extras' in the water bowl, but they often leave a dropping or two on their salad plate

Mine have a bottle from pets at home (have also found it in independent pet shop).

It has 2 ball bearings in the spout and I always squeeze water to pull a vacuum.

We have the glass bottle. It still leaks. Mine are terrible with all bottles. Now I just leave it bare under the bottle so no paper gets wet and keep it on the top level well away from their bedding area

I bought my little ratbags a glass bottle today for their indoor night cage.
My thinking is: I won't squeeze it when I attatcch to the cage and it should be easier to clean.

It has a little floating carrot in it to show the level of the water

I bet the little toads ignore it though
