Guinea pig breaks sound barrier!(nearly)

my husband has just brought home a copy of Metro, take a look at Metro.co.uk/truffles, a record breaaking guinea who can jump 48 cm! He's very cute. Can anyone beat this with their own gp!? Love his little feet....

My DD has a picture of Truffles the GP on her wall (don't know what paper it was, my parents sent it)

My GP2 is sitting on the box which is in the haybox. He's got about 2mm of headroom. That's as energentic as they get

Although, the way BigPig has been leaping and running around in the last few days i think he could be in with a shot at beating that!

Did get worried for a bit that he was having some sort of hyper heart attack . Very very unlike him!

I saw that! DBoar 2 is minded to challenge "that pig across the Forth" to a long jump competition. He's actually better at the vertical take offs!

IIRC Truffles was in the Daily Record and my parents sent it to DD.

Will it be your boy with the briefcase or the one with the ribbon KRITIQ.

I was watching my boys in the (empty) paddling pool tonight, munching carrots with the leaves on.
I don't think GP1 could run a hot bath TBH

Ha ha, it will be "business pig." He works out you know. Even the vet said he was "ripped!" :-)

Oh Kritiq, what a splendid boy! He really is the Arnie of the guinea world, I reckon Truffles has some serious competition....... uum, this could be a new opportunity for us all! ( I went to the Cheshire show last year on guinea day, and there were SO many shapes and sizes, I could have taken them all home, amazing varieties and colours... and the noise? You would not have heard a fridge opening thats for sure.... but no guineas who could actually perform/display their abilities like this boy, all just very pretty/gorgeous and getting awards for looks only...) :)

I saw Truffles as well and have shown him to my boys for inspiration . The most exercise they manage is a quick dash from their cage in the dining room to the tunnel in the conservatory where they lie down for a couple of hours to recover. I did once catch scruffy pig mountaineering - he was scaling the rabbit (rabbit slept through it and didn't appear to notice).

Not sure whether to tell DBoar2. His head's big enough already! I like the idea of rodent agility competitions (which would include very long snooze breaks.)

What was he actually doing in the photo where he's jumping?

I could just imagine asking the boys "Can you jump onto that chair and I'll take a picture of you"?

Getting very envious of you now KRITIQ - your boy is absolutely gorgeous, love the glint in his eye, he looks like he is indeed top dog, and quite rightly so. He looks very content in his little basket. Do let me know if you ever need a guinea -sitter.

Strangely he is a perfect combination of our last three girls, a hazel coloured, a ginger and a monochrome girl, the best bits of all three. >

Well, the jumping photo was quite an accident. You know how piggies often aren't bothered by things like fireworks, slamming doors, explosions, stuff like that, but will absolutely freak out if you sneeze, or fold a newspaper, or tap on the keyboard?

Well, I was sitting on the floor, trying to take a few "cute shots" and coughed. DBoar 2 flipped out and leaped just as I snapped the shutter, so that was definitely a lucky shot. He's quite a "popcorner," while DBoar 1 (who used to be quite adept at parkour but gave it up when he was about 18 months,) prefers to keep all "four on the floor."

This is the hippy fur ball the other night. (He SO badly needs a haircut!) and his bro, in pursuit of parsley.

Gpiglet - that's really funny about the colours! I first saw a snap of him from the rescue when he was about 5 weeks. He looked like a perfect crested tricolour. I had this dream that he looked different on the other side - like two face. Low and behold, he's only a "bicolour" on the other. He's got a lovely half and half tummy with a straight line in between, and pretends he doesn't like being tickled on it! :)

Would love to see snaps of OPPs (other people's pigs) if anyone else has links.

KRITIQ are your boars 'brothers' as in same litter or 'brothers' as in bonded pair.
Just looking at their different coat textures.

Mine are a smooth and a fluffy (not quite an Abby, but he's trying to be. He's got 2 rossettes)
We were told they were brothers- maybe half-brothers? They might have had 2 sows and a boar at the same time?

They get on well (most of the time) which is the main thing .

Oh, aren't they both lovely boys KRITIQ, really sweet, are they really brothers as 70 asks, or boys that arrived together, they are so different, but I am jealous of both of them, I am sure DBoar 2 knew he had to walk suavely along for that photo, definitely a James Bond guinea. The furball is amazing, can you brush his coat? Perfect for a guinea calendar! 70 you must add yours and then we can have a calendar guinea, in tasteful poses of course. We could make a fortune! < suddenly realises no longer has any guineas of her own. Sobs again. Looks at photos on computer>. Yes lets get photos of all the guineas.

Oh no, they're not related. They know that they're adopted!

DBoar 1 (7 of 8) was born in a rescue in Newport - my own little Hairy Prince of Wales :) He was actually born the same day my 5th piglet died from a rapidly advancing heart condition. I took the remaining hog to work for a few weeks until he was old enough to be introduced. He hates having his fur brushed. Hates haircuts even more, and I have the scars to prove it!

DBoar 2 (8 of 8) is actually a Lancashire lad from Preston - turned over by a "hobby breeder" to a rescue in Gretna at 3 weeks, riddled with a fungal skin infection. He insists he's descended from Scottish nobility and behaves like it, too. He came along when pig 6 passed on. There's about 9 months between them.

Love the idea of a pig calendar, or at the very least, a thread for gorgeous small furry snaps. I can start a thread at least! Can't wait to see the results.

(Guineapiglet, I get that way when I see snaps of gorgeous dogs, cats, goldfish, well any animal. Sometimes I marvel at the self-restraint I show! :) )
