Big Pig has lost two ounces!!!

He is on a diet! wouldn't let the vet weigh him when I took Gary re his lump ( which is fine). was too embarrassed for him.
So have cut down on the dry food and put in tonnes of hay, he was running round popcorning re all the new hay last night...if only life was that simple!!
I truly in love with their little fuzzy faces and GP smell, they are sooo adorable!!

It's a dilema, because you don't want them too porky , but you don't want them to lose too much condition.
My DD says to the pigs "Fat lazy boars get saggy 'nads and impaction" to our boys. They just look and judgey.

Our GP1 is a good 200+g heavier than his brother .GP2 has always been littler.

I give the little boy sweetcorn and naice hay if he's been out eating grass. He gets soft pooh is he has too much veg/grass.
But then his brother isn't pleased to be 'starved' in his eyes.

You wouldn't think that someone who eats vegetables would get chubby .

Don't let him lose too much weight though. They'll need their winter fat.

am not going mad re diet and am keeping an eye on Gary who is smaller but definately not skinny.
They are indoors so nice and cosy, am trying to type this with Big pig on my shoulder ? :[

My BigPig is on pig weightwatchers too!

He is still growing so I haven't cut down food but trying to get him to.move his lazy arse a bit more!

I have discovered that if I go and pick a handful if grass just before floor time then he will snuffle round the whole living room for a good half hour looking for random strategically placed juicy goodness

His old routine was mosey about for a minute until he found a comfy spot (normally under the table) to laze

must try that with Big pig, my hairdresser came yesterday with her 4 year old. she cuddled Big pig sitting on the floor and asked ih would run away.....no he definately won't run away!!!

Has Big Pig got an ideal target weight?

By the way for people who want their piggies to gain weight, sweetcorn and beetroot both do the job .

We give our GP2 sweetcorn (the little boy). Luckily GP1 doesn't like it or he'd be the size of a small bungalow

Will definately look for beetroot- it'll be in season soon.

no target exactly for big pig, just back to what he was when he arrived, so about another 4oz, will bring him back to top of average range.

I've seen pictures on the web of piggies eating beetroot with pink chins. However OB avoids this by eating naice marks and spencer shredded beetroot from their mixed salad bag . He is a very pampered pig.

I got corn with the leaves on (checked on website, it said they could have leaves and silks) .I cut it in half and pulled the leaves back so the GP1 could eat them.
The silks snap very easily, unlike celery strings.

My GP2 gets wind from every food though some are worse.
Parsnips are high in sugar, so if I give him the peelings on a Sunday he gets extra energy but

I bought a bunch of fresh beetroot - just read on Guinea websites that the leaves are poisonous . Be aware if you buy it for your hogs.

I'll trial it for breakast.
(Luckily GP2 is jet black so stains don't show.GP1 is golden agouti so he might end up 'tinted' )

70 After their beetroot breakfast your piggies will have red wee so keep them off the Axminster for a couple of hours.

I'll let DD know - GP1 doesn't pee on us but he saves a huge bladderful for the Pighouse.She'll be if she see pink from her precious boar.

GP2 has no such scruples. He opens his bladder and bowels (gas and solid) with not a second though. (Little git)
