Would this set up be ok for guinea pigs?

I would love to get a couple of guinea pigs and have been giving some thoughts to living arrangements.

Outside our back door we have a proper covered (bit like a small carport) alley which is carpeted. It leads from the kitchen to the utility room/freezer/washer. I was thinking of buying a proper hutch to put here as there is lots of 'traffic' in and out all day so there would be frequent passers by.

In addition I was going to get a run for the lawn and an indoor cage for cold nights.

Would this be enough or should I be thinking of keeping them inside most the time during winter months I.e day and night?

The covered carport (inside a hutch) would be fine.They'd have shelter and fresh air, provided it's not draughty.

You could use your Utility room for winter provided it's a fairly constant temperature and not damp or humid.Though noise might be a factor and you might not want your Utility room smelling of piggies

They can't cope with damp conditions or draughts.And they need to avoid extremes of temperature .They can suffer heatstroke very quickly which can be fatal.
They also can't tolerate going from hot to cold or cold to hot.

Apart from that, they're not fussy

Good idea to have them in a high traffic area. They need to be checked several times a day and they'll get used to all the hussel and bussle of family life.

Make sure they won't have any car fumes near them though.

There are no fumes at all and it is very sheltered as there is a shed not far from the end of the alley which stops the wind blowing down. They can't go in the shed though as we have no garage (it's converted, hence having to go outside and back in again to get to the utility room as we left a bit at the back for that purpose).
