More deaths at guinea pig cottage

Well some of you may recall that I bought two pregnant sows of a breeder a few weeks ago.

The first Angel gave birth to a stillborn and then died and the second Rhoda has given birth to 4 stillborns today although she looks well and is eating.

My other pg girls are now in the bedroom but I can only think that the two girls I bought brought problems with them?

All mine are very well and eating lots. I am at a kiss what was wrong as I have had lots babies and never has problems

Did you get in touch with the breeder who sold you Angel (IIRC she was pg when you got her?)
Is this the same place you got Rhoda from?

I can only guess at an infection if the babies have died and the sow is externally looking well.(Eating, weight gain, no stress )

Would you consider asking your vet to post mortem one of the piglets? Otherwise you're in the dark as to why.

I tried to contact him and number not known

It's all odd and yes I got both girls from him

My vet said if any of my own have issues he will investigate but he seems to think that thier pre preg care was poor

This sounds really strange that a breeder does not know what sex a GP is so accidently sells pregnant sows. Would you consider reporting this poor pre-pregnant care to the RSPCA? This should not be happening to these beautiful little creatures.

Thankfully whatever the problem was it seems to be confined to the girls he sold me as one of my own just gave birth to three lovely fluffy bundles! One is a pure White girl who we are calling angelica after poor angel rip
