How do you entertain your rats? I have been letting them have free run of my bed while I watch TV and have them on the sofa cuddled in with me in a woolly cardigan but im thinking they are intellegent creatures and need a bit or excitement...what do you do with yours?
Have trained them to come out along a rope which im going to string round the kitchen units at some point but after a few goes even thats gonna be a bit boring...ideas needed

My niece used to have a rat; while my brother & his children went on holiday, I cared for it in my home; I think what you are doing is great for the rat and you are right, it has been said that they are intelligent creatures; they can get very bored if not stimulated regularly. Have you thought about getting a second rat to keep it company when you are not there? I bought a gerbil wheel (not an enclosed one) got some old boxes, made holes in them, cut the ends off of some empty clean fairy liguid bottles and made an assault course LOL!! I had such fun looking after this little chap.

Hi charliecat, I also have two rats! Aren't they great! People often refer to them as 'little dogs' with their high intelligence level. I've kept rats for some years now and love them to bits!
Mine love to climb so I let them play sometimes in the wardrobe and keep an old empty canvas shoe holder in there. They enjoy climbing up that and fall asleep in it when they get tired! Mine also like to cuddle up in my jumper

i have two rats, have had three before that, one at a time though with each of them. they're brilliant pets. try making a maze for them to run around in.
