I've had skinny guineas in the past, but I must admit the chubsters were the nicest (and less likely to run away) Grin

One of our boys isn't skinny but slighter built than the other.I can feel his hip bones more. And he farts with eyewatering vigour.

The other one, while not a Vampire GP, will race up to my neck to attack my ears.Doesn't actually bite and has never laid his teeth on DD, but just a 'pinch'.
I hope he's not a Werewolf though.I wear silver earrings. Mwah ha ha

What's a vampire guinea pig? Both of mine sometimes take a notion to bite (all the books say guinea pigs don't bite, but it seems neither of mine have read them.) :)

I've never had Skinny pigs myself, but having talked to someone who does, they seem to eat, pee and poop at least twice as much as their furry cousins, need to have their skin moisturised regularly and may have to wear clothes to keep warm. They are mighty cute though, like hippos that shrunk in the wash.

Kritiq my GPs used to read my guniea-pig keeper guides and leave their 'thoughts' on the pages. Either little scalloped edges, pee marks or the occasional dropping that got pressed between the pages like a flower. Aaaah.

Not so good when it was a Library Book though. Had to pay for it with my pocket money.

The Vampire gps have areas of hair and areas without. If you google skinny gp both come up.

You are right they Kritiq they are sooo cute. Your description of hippos that shrunk in the wash is perfect!

are they a bit like those Sphinx cats? The ones that feel like suede?
They are supposed to be cuddly.

Gawd, in my day you got guinea-pigs in 3 flavours: smooth, Abysynian and Peruvian ( bought one once, alot of work)

Now there's Sheltie, Silky, Tencel (sp) little nekkid ones, the mind boggles.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/01/2012 17:23

Texel not tencel.

slipper I just Googled Vampire GP (lots of funny pictures of Guinea-Pigs dressed up basically)

Googled Skinny GPs.
Yuk. They are like Sphinx cats. The ET version of the animal world. DD says they look like armadillos. (I don't think it was complimentary).

Unless someone was severely allergic to fur, I can't see why?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/01/2012 17:25

When I said in my first post I'd had skinny GPs I meant thin ones not baldy ones.

KRITIQ · 27/01/2012 22:06

Ah, yes, the skinnies do feel similar to a sphynx cat - not totally hairless, sort of a very velvety down, sort of like a horse's nose! Skinnies have wiry fur on their noses and feet though. I think they night be born with fur, but then it starts to fall out and doesn't regrow as they mature. I've never seen them, but Baldwins I think are totally hairless.

One of my boys is a Texel, well his mother was and the rescue thought the father was at least half Texel and maybe half rex. He has a bad hair day every day and is pretty high maintenance. Which reminds me, he was going to have a fur cut this evening!

Funny what you said about the book 70. I was on a training course on Tuesday and just picked up a notebook from my desk at home rather than take my big work one and big work bag. When I got there and started taking notes, I noticed some interesting patterns incised in one corner of each sheet. No, don't ask. :-)
