Talk to me about hutch covers

We have had 2 Guineas since April. They are hardy little chaps; before they came to us they were in a rescue centre where they were outside all year. However, even though the hutch is in a sheltered spot, I think they could do with a cover of some kind to keep out the rain etc. Our hutch isnt one of the standard sizes, and I can't seem to find a hutch cover to fit 125 cm length.. anyone got any experience of this sort of thing ?

You could make your own using tarpaulin. When we had piggies when I was little you couldn't buy covers. DDad staple-gunned tarpaulin all round the cage then we pulled it down over the front at night (weighted that bit so that it didn't blow back up). To be fair though, they went in the shed in the coldest months (DDad also cavity wall insulated their hutch!).

I found someone on ebay last eyar who makes covers to measure. It was really good quality.

Try a bench cover from a garden centre, just cut a flap out of the front to roll up in the day.
If it's really cold you could use layers of newspapers or an old sleeping bag or duvet underneath.
