Yet another hamster thread by Saucepanman

Some of you will remember our first hamster trauma a couple of years ago involving wet tail, specialist vets and other horror.

DH finally let me get another hamster a year later, due to the fact I cried for a week when Indy died Blush

Enter Tink. Now 18mo and last few days started squeaking, which she doesn't normally. Today it has been continuous, she sounds like she is ticking, or hiccupping. Or it is when she is breathing. She looks like she is shakign when she does it too. Wtf is this?! Asthma?! Should I be worried? She also has chosen to cower in the corner of the cage, away from the bed and sheltered bit. She is fluffed up, v ball-shaped. Have handled her briefly as didn't want to upset- from what I can make out she isn't in physical pain when touched. No signs of wet tail. Is she just getting old, and/or ready to die? Can hamsters catch colds?

Anyone had similar re squeaking? TIA

Bump. Anyone? She's still squeaking, so not dead yet at least.

Shamelessly bumping again, anyone about? Blondeshavemorefun?

Bumping for you - nothing really useful to add, except that none of my hamsters ever squeaked at any stage of their lives. How about taking her to the vet for a check-up? Hope she feels better soon!

Thanks Summersoon, I think I may do that now everyone seems to be better. I am wondering if she has caught a cold!
