er, not in my experience!

LIZS · 03/03/2011 17:26

Purring yes, mounting not as I remember ! Have you checked them underneath !!!

belgo · 03/03/2011 17:26

Yes they do. At least my sil's two female guinea pigs did this, and multiplied to make a baby, which she has now given to us. She is now keeping these two 'female' guinea pigs apartGrin

Oh dear

Have called DH. He says the pet shop should expect a delivery.

Female rabbits mount each other as a sign of dominance. Not sure if guineas do the same.

aristocat · 03/03/2011 23:01

ha....we were sold 2 boy hamsters and now have 14 babies Shock

after the first litter of 5 pups we seperated mom and dad but she was already pregnant with the next, they can 'mate' the same/next day after giving birth!

Pterosaur · 03/03/2011 23:21

Sows do sometimes mount other sows to establish dominance.

Have a good look at their bits though, just in case.

FanellaFudge · 04/03/2011 12:09

Dh has had a look...reckons that they are both female. Hope he's right!

aristocat - that is so true, my sil's guinea pig gave birth to still born babies and then the next day was trying to make some more!

clayre · 04/03/2011 16:41

One of our females mounts the other piggies, quite distressing to watch but according to somewhere on google not that unsual!!

Ormirian · 04/03/2011 16:46

Baby guineas are very sweet though Grin

Pterosaur · 04/03/2011 18:36

They are absolutely gorgeous, but even they become very randy very quickly.
