My daughter and I went on a falconers weekend. It was one of the most amazing experiences either of us have ever had and I can see why people fall in love with it. I would start by a course, there are loads about, as there are with lots of animal keeping topics now - hens, llamas, beekeepin, pigs. They are great for giving you a basic knowledge. Often aimed at people who are looking to take it up. I know on the hen and llama courses we have been on you are able to purchase the animals following the training. We were told about which birds are more suitable for the beginner, equipment, history, everything really. There are lots of clubs about that have on line forums so have a look for those to. Can see why you would want to do this - we thought it was amazing.
