Quitting vaping, a few hours in

I'm feeling shaky, sweaty and I have a headache. I feel like a junkie coming down. I keep going to order a vape from the petrol station then stopping myself by reminding myself of the money I'll be saving every month.

I've come close to addiction with other drugs in the past but I always managed to stop before I got too deep in. I don't think anything is as strong as nicotine addiction. Well, maybe apart from heroin.

I think the problem with our generation is that we weren't educated on how to use drugs safely. For starters, that it isn't ok to be using nicotine or any drug every single day

Good luck OP. I can not vape at home but at work I find it so difficult because of habit.

Just commenting again hoping someone who's been through it will see it. I've gone 9 days using one cap of a nicotine pen a day and have one left and then will completely stop nicotine. I can tell there's a massive drop in my use because I'm feeling really unbearably nauseous every day.

I don't know when to expect it to stop and at times I'm tempted to buy a vape not because of cravings but to ease these symptoms. I also had a few days of continuous sneezing fits. I had to order benadryl from my nearest city early in the morning. I can't recall going through this when I've quit before

Currently drinking a bottle of ginger ale

I’ve quit smoking, vaping, alcohol and biting my nails. All are hard. All took multiple tries to quit. But I did quit.

For me the main thing was - and this will sound dumb - but I really had to WANT to no longer do the the thing. Not just want to quit… but to decide I wanted to never do the thing again. Generally that required me to persuade myself that doing it was far worse than continuing - watching documentaries on the disgusting danger of smoking, the bacteria under my nails, the stink other people smelled on me…. That smoking /vaping WOULD kill me. Not might, would.

When you go to buy a vape you need to have really strong images in your head of what that means for you… and you have to decide that enough is enough.

Generally nicotine leaves the system after 3 days, its byproduct cotinine takes 10+ days. If you can get to 14 days you’ll have done the hard bit. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water and don’t grind your teeth because you’re stressed by the withdrawal as this causes headaches.

I noticed I don't need to use my inhaler anymore but the main reason is just money. I was spending almost £200 per month on it and I don't have a lot of money. Hopefully in 5 days then the symptoms will ease, although I am still using a small amount of nicotine I'm not waking up with a strong need to vape anymore
