What drug could this be?

A family member & wife I’m concerned about (husband has history of on and off drug use and a couple of full blown addictions) his wife told me that one night he was convinced about something that was unlikely to be true and wasn’t logical (she can’t recall what it was), but unusual behaviour for him, also was coughing for a long time violently and said he was having trouble catching his breath. He seemed irrationally very angry and directed a tirade of verbal attacks at her. When she tried to leave the room he blocked the door and swore at her. He then followed her out of the room and cornered her whilst shouting and swearing at her. This is completely out of character for him and she is convinced he took something that night but he won’t admit to it. Any ideas what it is likely to be?

Could be anything,
Alcohol and smoking. Weed.

Crack cocaine? Makes people very paranoid and erratic. Think it can also be harsh when smoking. Has she noticed any strange/ chemical type smells?

Could also be a strand of synthetic cannabis such as mamba/spice
