Money gift to long term addict

My Dad left about £4000 in his Will to my nephew. My nephew is a drug addict who uses every day. He is not aware that we know he is still using. He is middle-aged and 30+ years of using have taken their toll. He has a daughter and my siblings and I are executors for the Will. Is there anything we can do to minimise the potential damage this amount of money could do to my nephew? TIA for any wise words or places to go for advice!

You should ask for this to be moved to legal section, there's lots of really knowledgeable posters who can help with this over there. Good luck, it sounds a terrible worry.

If you can get him to decline (via renunciation) his inheritance it can be passed to his daughter assuming due is an only. If not its split equally between all of his children.

Otherwise I think you are out of luck
