Cocaine overdose 24 hours later- advice

coldhandswarmheart88 · 11/03/2017 18:33

I think I've overdosed on cocaine. I've been using it everyday for the last month and Thursday night had loads, and then I've suddenly stopped, realising what an idiot I am and that this isn't a way to cope.

Been feeling very ill and emergency services is not a option. I'm 24 hours clean if any of it and been trying to rest take it easy and eat and drink.

My symptoms in the last 24 hours have been

  • tiredness
  • panic attacks
  • thundering heart rate
  • hoy cold extremes
  • chest pressure
  • movement in the chest, and occasional massive heart flutter
  • agitated
-very weak
  • disoriented
  • nauseous
  • faint
  • can't look at too much light or noise

These come and go with rest. How long until I feel ok?
Obviously I'm not going to touch any more. I've got a drug worker I'm seeing on Monday to help me co tinge not having any, but this has shocked me into not wanting any again. Have been convinced in last 24 hours I was going to die.

If I continue to rest etc, and ensure I get a good nights sleep tonight should I continue to feel brighter?

I've been taking aspirin/paracetamol (annadin) to thin blood and keep extreme temperatures at bay.

I have got some propranolol - should I take some now I've not had any coke for 24 hours? I know it's not advised to take beta blockers with cocaine, so I've waited24 hours before thinking it might be a good idea I take some.

This has been the shock and wake up call I needed in order to knock this on the head.

Any help appreciated- I can't ring emergency services or get to hospital so any tips will need to be self care ones

Thank you

You are on a comedown. Don't take anything else, especially beta blockers. Get yourself comfy and play music you like, watch feel good films, read positive stuff on the internet. Takes around 3 days to get 'normal'.

coldhandswarmheart88 · 12/03/2017 00:22

Right this minute I'm calm , in bed with a coffee. Not tired, but resting my body x

Yep, I'd advocate the chill relax and no panic.
You are fine right now, all is well right now, get some fluffy clothes on, snuggle down, maybe a bath.

The blood pressure needs to come down, and you can do this.

Any panic will make it worse and of course if professional help is needed then get what you need however I also feel cocaine is lots
In the mind.

Sending lots of love and calm your way

Broken11Girl · 12/03/2017 00:54

Oh love SadFlowers
Is caffeine a good idea right now? You need sleep, and it can raise heart rate and make anxiety worse.
Well done for deciding to kick the cocaine, and for trying to wind down. I hope you feel better very soon.

Xoticdreamz · 12/03/2017 00:58

Hey , that sounds pretty calm and nice in bed. Do you usually read to help you get to sleep?
If all physically feels calm and stable at the moment then that is positive and reassuring.
Imagine how nice tomorrow will be in comparison!

Bleurghghghgh · 12/03/2017 01:07

I hope you feel better, OP. I have a similar issue with coke. It's readily available in my social circle and the only time I've felt good about myself is when I've entirely blocked and denied it. Because if I start I cannot stop.

You're doing well and you will feel better, I promise. Please message me if you need a chat x

Northernlurker · 12/03/2017 09:29

I hope you're ok this morning op.

coldhandswarmheart88 · 12/03/2017 10:28

I was so happy to wake up- felt like I'd been given a chance I didn't deserve to make things right. Feel not too bad at all

Glad you're ok, Cold. It's nothing to be ashamed of, the pyschological effects of cocaine can be horrific and it is all too easy to fall into an addiction that gets out of hand. I've been in that horrible dark place and it's frightening.

Be proud of yourself for recognising your problem and addressing it. It will be hard to pull yourself away from cocaine but with support you can do it. Come and join our on going thread in addiction support if you're struggling. It sounds as though you're having a difficult time at the moment.
Wishing you strength Flowers

Withdrawals are the worst, I've no experience with Coke (ex pill head here) but if it hasn't been mentioned yet there's a fabulous support thread on the addiction board.

@FruitCider (hope you don't mind the tag) if she is still about is very knowledgeable on detox.

lougle · 12/03/2017 10:46

Nice to see that you are feeling better. Smile

Northernlurker · 12/03/2017 13:46

Really glad you are ok. Good luck tomorrow.

FruitCider · 12/03/2017 14:16

Hi OP I'm a substance misuse nurse and just checking in.

Did you drink any alcohol yesterday with the cocaine? If so, it makes a third drug in your body called cocaethylene. The levels of this can stay high in your body for much longer than cocaine or alcohol alone.

What I'm saying is, please don't become complacent today because it is the next day. Take it easy!

FruitCider · 12/03/2017 14:22

Ooh unborn I've just seen your tag, how spooky!

Cocaine withdrawal symptoms:
-agitation/restlessness
-low mood
-fatigue
-increased appetite
-vivid dreams
-slowing down of thoughts and movements
-chills/shivers
-difficulty with concentration
-inability to feel pleasure
-INTENSE CRAVINGS

Most of these will dissapesr within 7-10 days, though the low mood and intense cravings can last for many months.

They usually pass within

PollytheDolly · 12/03/2017 14:30

UnbornMortificado · 12/03/2017 14:47
