Stupid question about bra sizes

Regading double cup sizes. I've only ever heard of 'DD' and I think AA.

Why aren't there CC's or BB's?

And what does the 'double' signify? Doesn't it just means the next size up?

I suspect for the same reason that shoe sizes go up to 13 and then start again at one. I mean wtf is that all about?

The numbering of London bus routes comes from the same department of intuitive logicality as well, I find.

How come some ranges have FF and GG but others don't?

AA is less than A. DD is more than D. I think in the olden days it went A-D and that was it. They didn't imagine the need to go above D. If you had big boobs you just went up a number and got on with having a badly-fitting bra.

Ahh - Well, you learn something new..I didn't know AA was less than A. I inhabit the DD end of the spectrum
