Lovely stylish Mumsnetters, I need your help:
BIL is getting married in Malta in September

In my head I am a glamourous, gorgeous wedding guest, floating around in something fabulous and flattering.

In my mirror I am a dowdy, squishy round the middle tired looking person who has failed so far to find anything and I'm running out of time as we go on holiday this weekend and by the time we get back it will be the sales and I fear my hopes of finding THE outfit might be dashed (and breathe....)

I think I may be able to squeeze in a shopping trip on Friday afternoon sans DCs as lovely MIL will babysit but I need pointing in the right direction and any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

I'm VERY short - 5 foot nowt.

Figure wise I'm size 10 but really want to hide my very post DCs flabby tummy.

I'm big busted so anything high in the neck is out (think Carry On style matron) but so is anything that's too gapey round the boobs(think Barbara Windsor).

I tried on a gorgeous shift dress in Monsoon but it just did nothing for me so I think I need something with a shape as although my middle is substantial in terms of flab it is incredibly short!

I'm thinking something that is fitted round the boobs and then flares out.

Colour wise black is a no no and so are pastels as they make me look washed out.

I'd quite like to go for deep blue or turqouise as have recently dyed my hair dark red (from blonde)and think that would go nicely.

My DDs will be flower girls in pink & green flowery dresses but as long as I don't clash horrifically I obviously don't need to match

See, I have all this criteria but when I go into a shop my mind goes blank and I can't find anything!

Really as long as it's something pretty and suitable for an abroad wedding I don't mind too much what it's like as long as it suits me and is flattering!

Have had a pretty shitty year tbh and have been working very hard, feeling very stressed recently and as Fri is my birthday I'd like to treat myself to something really nice for me (for once) that makes me feel good about myself (for once).

Oh and it has to be highstreet prices but I can manage higher end ie Monsoon/ Karen Millen etc - ie could prob afford up to about £150. I can accessorise no bother and prob quite cheaply but the dress bit is proving hard!!

God, just re-read my post and it sounds really demanding and very specific- how have I not found anything?!

Anyway,if you do see anything suitable I will be very very grateful!!

A friend of mine with similar shape to yours tried this dress on for a wedding (but in red) and it looked great on her.

Ooh thanks Dexter!

You know, I looked at it and initially thought no way as it's totally different from anything I would normally wear and then I looked again and realised you're right; I think it would be really flattering and it's very pretty too.

I had totally forgotten about the existence of Phase 8 too. Have had stuff from there in the past and always loved its quality etc.

Off to find where my nearest Phase 8 is!

I have ahem Maltese connections,I hven't been for a few years but would recommend something with sleeves/covered shoulders/below knee if it is a church wedding, as is most likely.

If you can get to a John Lewis then Precis Petite stuff is very nice. Or you can order from JL online - they are excellent.

Monsoon do a petite range as well, and you can always find a lovely colourful floaty frock in there. I'm sure if you are a size 10 with big boobs you look much lovelier than you think you are!

If your tummy is that bad get yourself some Scala magic knickers from JL as well - they are miracle workers.

You could wear a shrug with the phase 8 dress in the church.
