Would you take them back?

I bought a pair of jeans in River Island last week. I generally struggle with jeans as they're never usually tight enough on the thighs but I've lost a few lbs and tried the size 10 and they were a great fit on the waist and the thighs.

Bought them, took them home, tried them on again at home with various shoes and tops and decided that a wash might shrink the leg length by a cm or two which would be a better length for me.

Washing them hasn't done anything for the length but whatever magical thread type thing that kept the denim tight has come out in the wash. They're no longer tight on the thighs and I hate them and won't wear them.

Can I take them back now that they've been washed? They've never been worn (Other than trying on) and now never will be. £40.00 is expensive for a pair of jeans that can't take a wash surely?

Take them back and say how baggy that have become. I had a pair of topshop jeans (pippa?) and they were very huggy at first but after wash lost there 'bounce back' and I took them back. With just one look they refunded me straight away.

Thanks both. I shall take them back on Thursday.

I took jeans back to Gap after I had worn and washed them - they didn't seem to mind at all (nor were they surprised...)

I would call that a defective pair of jeans - you haven't changed your mind, they are broken.

Amandoh · 06/07/2010 21:31

Thanks for the replies. You're right Trillian, they are "broken".

I thought I might have been going bonkers and tried them on twice after the wash but they were definitely baggier. They looked too big, which a size 10 really shouldn't do on me.

Am glad I'm not the only one to have experienced this as I probably won't be the only one to have returned jeans to River Island due to the jeans growing. Will find out on Thursday.
