mamatomany- that's a good point. I used to work in a well known high street shop where the staff used to wear the clothes for a day (as a uniform to sort of promote them and on the maanager's say-so) and then we'd just hang them back up on the shop floor at the end of the day. Outrageous!

I always do
the one time I didn*t I got a bad rash

nagoo · 03/07/2010 15:08

I got hives once for not washing a scarf.

I haven't learned anything and still don't wash my own clothes when new.

Do wash bedding (crunchy)

I did wash things for DS when he was a baby. We gets lots of hand me downs now from family and they have all been beautifully laundered on receipt!

AngryPixie · 03/07/2010 15:09

I never do, & never have done for dc either and we are all fit, healthy & rash free! Would probably do a quick express wash for anything from a charity shop.

AuldAlliance · 03/07/2010 16:15

I do if they smell of nasty dyes, chemicals, etc.

MissWooWoo · 03/07/2010 16:28

ffs no! I've got enough washing to do as it is. Fair enough if you've really got sensitive skin but otherwise get a grip! so what if someone else has tried it on - do you febreeze your seat on public transport, run a baby wipe round the inside of new shoes?

NomDePlume · 03/07/2010 16:38

yes I do. they sit around for months in dusty warehouses and quite often still have chemicals from manufacture on them (as other posters have said).

Don't feel remotely guilty for that one.

I think this is another case of "Be thankful you've got the luxury of worrying about stuff like this"
