My finger nails, for the first time ever, are so....

.... long and healthy and strong that when I entered my credit card pin using the keypad at Sainsburys today I had to turn my finger sideways otherwise the nail got in the way and I couldn't reach the button!!!

Never ever ever before have I had finger nails like this and I am so chuffed and pleased with myself (in case you hadn't guessed!!! I keep looking at them and smiling.

Sorry, just thought I'd share that useless piece of information with you!

How did you do it ?

I'm not sure. It's either the Aloe Vera that I've been drinking or the Oil of Evening Primrose and Starflower Oil supplements that i've been taking for my PMT.
But whatever it is, it's worked wonders.

I'm going to have to get them cut or filed though now as they are getting too long for typing and doing 'stuff'. But I'm really nervous to let anyone near them in case afterwards they all start splitting again.

I think I've let them get too long (they're not very long, just longer than perhaps is sensible considering I'm a mother with young children and not a diva!) and today I caught the edge of the top of one. I've managed to salvage it and it now looks fine, only shorter than the others!
I'm nervous though to cut or file the others to make them the same length in case I ruin them all and the lady who I would trust with them is on holiday until July 12th!

I realise I'm being very precious but I am so thrilled to have nice nails for the first time ever in 44 years and I don't want to do anything to risk ruining them .

What shall I do???

Put some nail varnish on, and run the clear around the top edge of the nail to seal it

McKenzie you should file them down, not cut them. I wouldn't leave them though, they will be more susceptible to breakage the longer they get.

Use a soft nail file and file in one direction only, don't see-saw with it or else you will weaken them and don't cut them either.

You could then put a layer of nail treatment on, like a strengthener and seal the ends, or just leave them.

I promise you won't damage your lovely new nails if you do the above.

Okay, I'll give it a go. I have a soft padded file that someone recommended years ago (when I was trying everything and anything to achieve this result) and i have some strengthener type stuff too....
(some?? who am I kidding? i have just about every one ever made! OPI, Sally Hansen, Jessica, Duri. Think I'll use the Duri tonight
