Bonnet style hat for DD?

tethersend · 28/06/2010 18:12

DD desperately needs a sun hat and is currently doing the rounds in a vile pink number...

She is 19mo and needs something which ties underneath so it cannot be ripped off whilst screaming "No hat, nooooo, off, off, off" and flung into oncoming traffic.

I would really like a bonnet of some sort as I love vintage stuff, but cannot find anything even vaguely nice.

Would prefer plain, not pink and am open to suggestions. Can't even find one I like to sew ribbon to myself... although would prefer bonnet type.

Any help appreciated

Back when dd was small I got her one from Baby Gap. And a matching romper! That might be a good place to start

Had a look in the other day but didn't see anything I liked... although they had literally two hats left as it was on a hot day. They were pink

H&M- boys section.

My dd is 2 so bit older but has hats from H&M with a velcro bonnet tie thing in magenta pink, white, violet and brown with jungle animals. Jojomamanbebe have some nice ones - dd has a white one with flowers which is ok with non girly clothing IMO. Oddly Adams had loads and even two blue ones but not in dd's size & have shut down near us. Boden sale tends to have cheap non pink kids' hats.

I like this sort of hat

Another

If you are handy with a needle you could make one, I have been meaning to do this one

monkeysmama · 28/06/2010 23:17

That first one is v similar to the Jojomaman one Dolly.

Have a look on Etsy - I got a v cute bonnet for a friend from a seller called UrbanBabyBonnets or something like that.

DD has got a very sweet one from gap - bought it in the sale at the weekend. Its lilac and has a big floppy brim with a velcro strap that goes under the chin.

Its adorable and DD looks very sweet in it and it does stay on despite a lot of yanking.

There is a dearth of sweet sunhats for little girls this year.

KurriKurri · 29/06/2010 13:30

There's a sunhat with underchin tie here - traditional bonnets seem v.hard to find.

I've got the DCs a couple of these from Green Baby and they're very sweet.

Whilst not plain they aren't pink and frilly either.
