I'm off to a posh-ish do in a couple of weeks and really don't have the money to be buying a new dress etc so have dug deep into my wardrobe and tried on dresses that I've not worn for some time (the last time for this one was pre-kids so over 4 years ago!).

I've got a lovely black dress, with thin silver straps which I still like and it fits pretty well, apart from it's made from a jersey type material and it's just not fitting as well as it did around my waist - there's just not enough shape to it and it makes me look like I have no waist!

I'm not much into accessories, but think perhaps a thin silver belt-like thing might be just the job, but I really don't know if such a thing exists or where to find it if it does!

Can anyone with a bit more style know-how than me please help?

have you tried looking in accessorize?

maybe you could get a cool long necklace that has some hints of silver in it and drape it around your waist?

it would definitely make your waist the focal point. good luck!

The m+s ones are within budget

Thanks. I'm glad you've not all said it's a ridiculous idea! Will take the dress shopping with me and see what I can find.
