I would guess that most places in AE would be nice...

Bag yourself a footballer as well if you are single .

Alderley Edge Chicks, how far is it from Delemere Forest to drive.Heathcotes is wonderful but far to pricey for us.Est Est Est looks a good bet for a jolly evening.Could you let me know any snags about driving from Alderley Edge to Delemere Forest. What would you recommend?

What time will you be driving there? You'll have to drive through Mobberley and Knutsford, and then onto the A556 past Northwich, it's pretty straightforward, signposted and shouldn't take more than an hour. Good luck trying to get out after the concert though, parking at those gigs is an absolute nightmare because it is literally tiny country roads that are ridiculously windy. Took my friends 2 and a half hours getting out last year!

Got this sorted now,many thanks!

Why Alderley Edge in particular? I live in Chester, which is only a half-hour drive from Delamere, so you might be better coming over this way. If you are not looking for an especially posy AE-type meal, there are plenty of nice country pubs around Kelsall/Tarporley area

jardy · 25/06/2010 13:00

Nic,I am going to park in a pub car-park and walk in,fingers crossed we will be ok.I will be driving via a motorway and not actually dining in Alderley Edge for the reasons boogeek mentioned.Having done some reseach,I think I would loveto try the Village Bistro in Chester, one day. What does AE-type meal mean? I am intrigued!

Why not go Wilmslow? Only a few mins drive from Alderley Edge.

Lilymaid · 25/06/2010 14:30

Alderley Edge is quite a way from Delamere Forest (3/4 hour drive?)- Knutsford is slightly nearer and has plenty of bars/restaurants. (Or if coming from the west, Chester would be closer).

jardy · 25/06/2010 19:34

we are going to dine at a restaurant near the forest, park in their car park and then stagger through Delemere Forest to the Simply Red Concert in our high heels. We will take torches for the journey back.BTW,I plan to investigate the bars and restaurants in Knutsford and Chester, looks fab.

Ha ha sorry at my appallung typing. POsy AE = posh Alderley Edge (ie "Cheshire Set")

jardy · 27/06/2010 13:47

Bring it on! I`m am from a very grubby industrial northern town,so am looking forward to a bit of escapism in AE.Thanks!

It was a disaster,we got lost and didnt make the concert. What a journey, will never do that again. However I would love to visit Delemere Forest in its own right,it was gorgeous.
Also the pubs were beautiful and we did enjoy a lovely meal.Next time I will stick to the Manchester Evening News Arena!Thank you for your help.
