I'm bored of my hair! I need something that looks great (or at least ok with no effort as I hate blowdrying and don't have much time 10mins tops)

I have medium brown hair, shoulder length, with a fair bit of grey that I'm dying into submission. It is fine but there's a lot of it iyswim. It's pretty straight- with a bit of a kink at jaw length and never holds a curl. I have a quite round face with nice eyes (well I think so)

is there a magic haircut out there or do I just need to resign myself to blowdrying.

short pixie cut

job done

I had a pixie cut about 10 years ago. Liked it but felt maybe a bit un feminine.
Also my skin is a bit iffy at times. Kinda like hiding behind my hair at times

I know what you mean, I'm itching for a new look for the summer and don't know what to go for! From what you say, how about a chin length bob with a sweeping fringe? I think I'm going to look through some magazines or just go into my salon and let them decide!

tried the chin length bob - the kink means it needs serious blowdrying to sit nicely and any dampness/ movement makes it look like ive been through a hedge!

think i might go for the chop but its scary as ive been growing my hair for 3 years and now its long im bored of it!

I have hair very like yours and the thing that works for me is being pregnant -- my hair suddenly acquires loads of extra volume and goes all bouncy and I get compliments on it.

Sadly this is not a sustainable long-term strategy for either of us...

I tended to go for a just-below chin length bob and get the hairdresser to chop into the ends to take some of the weight out and add body. It's more shoulder-length at the moment, though.

Have you looked through any hair mags? I usually get some inspiration there but for my last cut I went to the hairdressers, we talked through some ideas and came up with something we both thought would suit me and it turned out great. Sometimes you have to just trust your stylist to make you look beautiful!

I think I'm going to do that when I go for a cut at the weekend. I'm going to try Nicky Clarke's salon so I'm sure it'll be great. Plus the haircuts are half-price as part of the HAIRraising appeal so I think I deserve a treat

Do you have GHDs? I can just blast my hair dry and style it with the GHDs, takes me 10 mins and my hair sounds similar to yours.

layered bob
then blow dry and flicky bits for messy look
a bit like this?

mrsflux · 23/06/2010 16:10

Must get back to my lovely hairdresser! That's probably the most sensible thing.

Bein pregnant was good but afterwards awful! I have all these weird tufty hairs growing back in. Looks like I gave myself a very short fringe! Not good and useless for smooth or sleek hairstyles.

I have similar hair and just got a chin-length bob a la Danni Minogue. Its kinda chipped (is that the word) at the nape of my neck and slightly longer at the sides...nice side fringe. I really like it, I can blow dry with mousse for posh nights out, or leave more natural. Ask your hairdresser, maybe she can suggest something that works for your hair/faceshape.

mrsflux · 24/06/2010 20:41

yeah - had that haircut while pg. was ok but did need proper blowdrying as the front did not want to be straight. found it a bit annoying as the long bits were sometimes a pest but i couldn't tie it back properly.

think i might go for the chop...

or not

or maybe

i don't know!
