opinion wanted on party dress

Do you think this is nice enough to wear to a smart party, and what does it need with it?

It is fine for a smart party- I would team it with red or hot pink shoes.

Anyone else? Don't mind if you say it's hideous - just want opinions as I don't buy party dresses often enough to get a feel for what's in and I do tend to jump on patterns when maybe plain would look better. Can't have anything above the knee. Footballer's legs, sadly...

What would you go for with shoes, BTP? I already have some a bit like these but was thinking of red or hot pink to jazz it up and then Tether said the same thing.

It's for a friend's 40th in July. Big do but relaxed.
