What colour shoes, bag, fascinator would go with my dress?

if it fits, that is!

budget for shoes: £30-40.... have hideously wide feet (eee) so need to be from a fat peoples shop usually

I would pick out the fushia or purple in the dress.

purple bag

shoes

fascinator

luciemule · 20/06/2010 21:24

I know the shoes are 20 quid over budget but fascinator is only 5.99!!

PlumSykes · 20/06/2010 22:20

Fab dress.

New Look have lots of wide fit shoes around the £20 mark here. Do you want flats/heels/sandals?

And what's it for? A smart wedding?

Alambil · 20/06/2010 22:22

my sister's wedding

new look wide aren't wide enough....

I think I'll need heels and then I'll change into my flipflops at the evening do!

I was wondering whether to go with the main colours or pick out the green?

I have blonde hair and blue eyes... incase that helps

(ps, the bag will have to come from ebay cos I'm brassic now I've splashed out on that dress...)

I think that teh dress is WOW enogh on it's own without a fascinator, but if you are set on having one, Debenhams have lots here

PlumSykes · 20/06/2010 22:25

green bag

PlumSykes · 20/06/2010 22:26

teal bag

Alambil · 20/06/2010 22:29

thanks... I need something in my hair - it's dull on it's own

I have just found these but they're orange!

OP posts:
PlumSykes · 20/06/2010 22:34

Orange would be fine-there's orange in the centre of the flowers on the dress. Dp you like those? Evans have these amazing sequinned ones!

Alambil · 20/06/2010 22:39

ooh they're sparkly! I need ones I can wear every day too though.... not that many trips out, you see!

I have incredibly wide feet (as distinct from very wide feet) and I can recommend anything from Hush Puppies who do fab shoes and are seemingly far wider than anyone else.

not many sizes left tho

HOWEVER! That's a maxi dress that will cover your feet for most of the time? Get some sparkly flip flops if you are struggling. I had some fab ones from M&S one year that would have been fab wedding gear.

As a fellow wide footer, I hate the thought of having to force feet into uncomfortable shoes, even for part of the day.

PlumSykes · 20/06/2010 22:45

Matching bag would be too much, I think. I'd do a nude/cork/straw clutch bag with the orange shoes, and then do a pink/green hair thing.

Must go to bed now -DCs will be up again in about 10 mins-but will check in tomorrow.

Night.

cyb · 20/06/2010 22:47

PLEASE dont wear a fascinator. they are tres passe.

Just seen dress..NO NO NO to fasciantor with that! earrings alone would be fine

|Believe me

Alambil · 20/06/2010 22:47

night plum

the wedding isn't til October, so I think I'll be cold in flipflops all day ... although I may change in the disco part!

I will look at hush puppies

OP posts:
Alambil · 20/06/2010 22:50

cyb, really?

I can't put my hair up (too fat a neck) so will have to add volume / interest some how...

OP posts:
PlumSykes · 20/06/2010 22:51

these?!! Lots more, less bonkers, ones on this site.

Ewe · 20/06/2010 22:52

Agree, no fascinator, plain coloured flower in hair if you have to have something. Love the colours of the dress!

Alambil · 20/06/2010 22:54

lol plum, I have those in black ... at least I know they fit!

OP posts:
ThatVikRinA22 · 20/06/2010 23:04

i love that dress. its beautiful.

id pick out the purple and get a lovely bag, shoes and agree with the no wierdy hair thing.

go for some gorgeous jewellery.

Alambil · 20/06/2010 23:08

chunky and bright or silver and understated?

remember, I have a fat neck! (and can't wear plated earrings - I may have to get my ears re-peirced)

OP posts:
cyb · 20/06/2010 23:11

Lewis have fab hair and fab earrings. LESS IS MORE

dont run the risk of looking like those DREADFUL women at Aintree

cyb · 20/06/2010 23:16

Lew how high can you go with shoes? What size feet ahve you?

Alambil · 20/06/2010 23:23

lol cyb

my mum wants me to look dreadful - she rekons a wedding guest without a fascinator is wrong.

She's stupid!

I am size 6/6.5 and eee fitting... up to 3inch heels

OP posts:
PlumSykes · 21/06/2010 08:21

Right, an October wedding. You def. can't have a fascinator anyway, even if you wanted to-it will prob rain and you look like a bedraggled cockerel.

Both these and these Ebay shoes look perfect.

With the pink pair, I'd do a gold bag, with the gold pair, a coloured bag-green, or teal, I think.

Your lovely face and fab dress will add more than enough interest-get a blow dry on the morning to have fab, glossy hair, and you'll (nearly) outshine the bride.

You won't need a necklace, but some pretty earrings could be good-get clips, then they won't irritate your ears.

BrittanyBeers · 21/06/2010 08:54

I'd wear flats with a maxi. Has anyone linked these yet?
