Am off to an Anglo-Brazilian party next weekend and cant find a really nice dress! Have looked at Geri Halliwell type union jack dress but I am 49 so not a good look! Could also wear a samba/flamenco type dress but cant find one anywhere! Have a reasonable budget but desperately need help - any ideas would be fantastic!

PS went to a Wonderland Party last night with DH as a White Rabbit but I was one of the few people who hadn't dressed up so I really want to make an effort for this one!

OMG, who are your friends? I hate theme parties.

at the thought of trying to get my DH to dress as a white rabbit.

Not helping much. Sorry.

Go as the Queen?

Actually, how about something quintessentially British - Twinset and Pearls.

Or Sense and Sensibility style dress

Could you go as a famous English figure - eg: Twiggy, Vivienne Westwood, Helena Bonham Carter or something like that?

Or Big Ben?

Twinset and pearls is a good idea too. Or Britannia? Or the bank of England?

Actually it wasn't too hard, he wore a waistcoat with pocket watch, pinz-nez and a big spotted scarf of mine round his neck! Like the idea of Brittania but would prefer to be ) sexy'ish and b) able to rock the dance floor.....

What about going as a punk. Very British cool. And you can rock around the dance floor. Just watch those nose-ear chains.
