Permanent/brazilian blowdry when pregnant?

Hi there
I had a permanent blow dry in London in December 2008, and it lasted for absolutely ages and I loved the results. I am 34 weeks pregant and want to have it done again before my baby is born. My understanding is that it isn't a problem to have it done late in pregnancy but my salon in Knightsbridge are now saying they won't do it! Help! Has anyone had one done in central London whilst pregnant? Thanks so much!

I am 33 weeks pregnant at the moment and having my second Brazilian blow dry in 3 weeks - my hairdresser is happy to do it. I go to Nicholson and Griffin on Gracechurch Street. My stylist's name is Emma.

Thanks so much - just out of interest, how long did you find yours lasted? I had my last one at Daniel Hersheson and it lasted for about 6-10 months which was fantastic! Thanks again for the info.

I would be careful...aside from being pregnant, the treatment contains a lot of formaldehyde that is already concerning. With a bump on board, I certainly wouldn't risk it.

Most of the permanent blowdrys on the market in UK are formaldehyde free now. I still wouldn't risk it though as a lot of fumes are given off in the blowdrying/straightening process and they could be dangerous to the baby.Personally I'd wait until after the baby arrives.

The Brazilian uses keratin which is all natural and completely harmless, your salon is talking pants

I had mine done 2 weeks ago when I was 32 weeks pregnant....

The only thing I would say is that hair texture is different when pregnant so bear that mine. I am very happy with my results as my hair is not poker straight but I don't even need to blow dry my hair to get a good look..

I am defo going to get it done again when it wears off...

I went to The Ginger Group in Harrow... It only cost me 99 but I did not buy the shampoo etc as I have non sodium chloride stuff at home...

what is a brazilian blowdary? how come it lasts ten months? don't you wash your hair? someone enlighten me, my hair is like a birds nest , maybe it could change my life

Am wondering if its worth getting it done, have very very thick hair that is almost straight but prone to puffing up very big. Would love it if this would make my hair puff free and take off the blowdrying time. Can you still add style to it after the blowdry is done, like curling at the very ends etc?

So what happens during the ?6 months it lasts? Does it grow out like a perm? I guess you can still have a cut and style as normal in between.
I have straight hair in a short bob affair, it does take me about 15 mins to blow dry though. Would i just be able to blast dry it and get the same effect?
