Hoping someone can advise..

Ever since I got my BFP, I have had the most awful spots on my face and back. They're big and angry and very sore! No amount of makeup hides them and it's making me feel crap! Coming up to 12 weeks now and they show no sign of going away - in fact they're getting worse
Anyone have any experience of this? Did they go away in 2nd trimester or last for the whole 40 weeks!? Any miracle creams / lotions that will make them disappear? I use Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish which I usually love, but I feel I need something a bit more hard core. So much for that pregnancy "glow"!
Any advice greatfully received! xx

I got them. Ruddy hormones. Got a girl for all my troubles though!

I needed to change my whole skin care routine whilst pregnant as my skin was more sensitive. I ended up using the boots botanicals soap free face wash to cleanse, and nivea to moisturise.

For a very good topical solution, you could try buying a jar of 20+ manuka honey, and doing a thin face pack for 20mins a day, then wash off with cold water only. Face polish v bad for spots as it can rub in bacteria and open more pores.

Freederm cream at Boots. About £5 a tube. Dries up teenage DD spots a treat. They do a skincare range too. It's full of Vit B12 or sommat. Worth a try?

Acne is horrible Preggerz.

My acne seems to flare up when I have any hormone fluctuations. When I was pregnant my skin was really bad until about week 26, then they disappeared! Have had spot free skin for about a year now. I'm 32 and have been acne prone since I was about 15 so feels like a miracle for me.

I don't think there are any miracle cures out there. I found Clinique emergency face mask and a dab of Panoxyl gel dried them up (you're not really meant to use benzyl peroxide when pregnant/breastfeeding). other than that just a mild facewash for sensitive skin.

Fingers crossed you will get your lovely skin back soon. The problem with hormones is that they can be so damn unpredictable!!

I went to the Docs with mine and she gave me some topical cream that has really really helped. Might be worth a visit.

Thanks ladies for all the suggestions. I'll give the manuka honey a try - perhaps I can slather my face in it while listen to my relaxation in pregnancy CDs! I'll take a trip to boots at the weekend to get some new skincare stuff.
I'm 32 aswell bethyrose, but unlike you, never had a problem with acne until now, so it's come as a bit of a shock. On the bright side, I've had no morning sickness whatsoever, so it could be worse, I know

Hermya - if all else fails, I'll pay a visit to the docs. Ta!

Oh I really feel for you, it's horrible isn't it.
I was the opposite - I had lovely skin while pregnant, as soon as DD popped out my hormones went haywire - I ended up with huge angry red spots on my cheeks which were agony and scarred.
I used Quinoderm (over the counter from Boots) which was briliant at clearing them up, but like everything many things when you're pregnant not sure if you can use it!
Origins do a fabulous face mask called 'Out of Trouble' which really helped too - seemed to calm everything down and get rid of the worst.

just wanted to let you know i had the same prob in my last pregnancy (not so much this time). after DD was born they cleared up though, so its not necessarily a permanent change... its so dissapointing not to get the great skin that everyone talks about.

this time i am exfoliating more and using a drop of bio oil as moisturiser because it is good and light.

I got terrible acne until about 15 weeks then my skin cleared up and has been fine since (I'm now 33 weeks). I have used Eve Lom cleanser religiously for about the last 10 years but when I started getting spotty I panic bought a whole load of Dermalogica stuff which made stuff-all difference. About a week after I went back to Eve Lom my skin cleared up but TBH I suspect that during pregnancy the products used don't make an awful lot of difference.

Strangely, I never had a moment's morning sickness either. Congratulations on your baby.

My skin was like an oil slick for the first trimester, and the only thing that sorted it during the day was Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder - it is brill. Looks white but goes on translucent.
