Does anyone know an online shop for Jewish clothes for kids?

I've been googling it and don't seem to find anything in London. Or even if anyone knows a shop in North London, please let me know. I'm in love with some of the pretty pinafores the girls wear and would like to buy some for DD. Thanks

Do you mean Orthodox/ observant jewish clothes? ie children of wig wearing mothers?

CatJosephine · 14/06/2010 21:38

just marking my place. will come back.

ChocFudgeCake · 14/06/2010 21:45

Yes, I've seen girls in Stanford Hill wearing these clothes.

Do you mean clothes that are 'kosher'?

If this is the case, all you need to make sure of is that they're all 100% natural fibres and nothing man-made.

To be honest I've never heard of such a thing and doubt any of the observant Jews of Stamford Hill shop online anyway, so maybe if you're able, you should go and look there as it's probably the most Orthodox community in South East England.

And having re-read your comment re. pinafores, I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are hand made - many years ago when I was sent to Lubavitch camp I learnt to sew one of these and an apron too - women's lib has yet to arrive!

ChocFudgeCake · 14/06/2010 22:08

Thanks, Sansucre. Oh no, I don´t need them to be kosher. I just liked the style. And yes, you´re right, probably they don´t buy their clothes online. If I can get my hands on 1 or 2 items, I might be able to sew more myself, it should be simple, but I´m not very talented, ha.

www.modestclothes.com/jewish/jewish-girls-clothing-kippah.html

will have a proper hunt as I do remember finding some once.

US stores are your best bet.

CatJosephine · 14/06/2010 22:12

Ignore that site. Clothes are ugly.

ChocFudgeCake · 14/06/2010 22:21

Thanks anyways CatJosephine. I´ll wait patiently

There is a store just next to Stoke Newington station which sells orthodox Jewish clothes, I believe. Come out of the station and turn left, it is just there.

I'll have a look on googlemaps

"Shoe and fashion boutique", 28 Stamford Hill.

It may be worth ringing them to check they stock what you're after...

You might find Brent Cross shopping centre has something suitable for you.

Patsy99 · 16/06/2010 11:25

Don't think there's anything like this in Brent Cross actually. Many orthodox Mums but I've only ever seen the big chain shops there.

pippop1 · 16/06/2010 15:54

I just thought the general shops there (John Lewis?) might cater to the area's clientel? I don't live on that side of London but I do have a few friends who do and one or two are ultra orthodoc.

MrsBadger · 16/06/2010 16:11

this is where I usually start but is US an doesn't have kids stuff

hang on
