Could you tell me about having an underarm wax please?

I'm thinking of having my underarms waxed so that I don't have to take a razor on holiday. It is our first holiday in 5yrs and our first with little kids I would like it to be as hassle free as possible!

Can anyone tell me how painful it is/how long it takes/how long the hair needs to be/how long in advance of the holiday to do it and how long it will last?

Thanks!

It stings momentarily and last for ages, well worth it IMHO!

Hair needs to be about 4-5mm for a really good result.

I find if I want to be totally hair free for a holiday it is best to get them done about 2-3 weeks before you leave and then the day before. This way I find I have very sparse regrowth for the next 5-6 wks.

It does hurt but is over quickly and gets easier with subsequent goes.

I had mine done just before a recent holiday. I always have my bikini line done and that is always fine (and was this time)

But the underarms grew back really quickly, as if they hadn't all been properly removed in the first place. I ended up shaving anyway and I wouldn't bother with waxing again, tbh. Maybe you do need it done twice close together, as nancy says. But I'm not prepared to pay for that!!

Stings for a moment but not too bad. Very good results IME.

I've done my own underarms for years and it's easy peasy now.

i could tell you i wouldnt fucking have one

ChasingSquirrels · 11/06/2010 21:13

no, I can't tell you - I have completely blocked it from my memory.
It is one of the most painful things I have ever had done, I still can't believe that I let her do the 2nd one.
I do epilate mine now though.

trumpton · 11/06/2010 21:14

I do epilate mine now as well. Now that really hurts.

very useful, thanks everyone

I think that I will get it done now and then again before I go on holiday then. I have had a hollywood wax twice recently, that really hurt the first time, so I imagine the underarms are going to hurt alot the first time. Surely if I can take the pain of the hollywood, I can take the underarms? I hope...thing is, have been shaving underarms for long time, so those hairs are really strong probably. ouch...

I avoided underarm waxing for years but I've had it twice now and it's fine and not as sore as legs...still working myself up to bikini!
